MONARCHY INVASION - inconvenienced by a galloping runner approaching the 500 metres.
SUNNY PEGASUS - held up over the early stages of the run home.
CANSKYFLY - broke after the start losing its chance.
SHOW OF FAITH - Trainers P and V Blanchard were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $200 for presenting the mare late onto the track with three minutes to start time. Broke at the start losing ground.
IZINTHEZONE - broke approaching the 500 metres losing ground and inconveniencing trailing runners. Broke again inside the final 100 metres. Driver K Marshall advised that the mare hung badly trotting roughly and pulled a shoe passing the 800 metres before breaking free of interference approaching the 500 metres.
PHOEBE GEM - broke approaching the 300 metres.
THE PRINCE - broke after the start and recovered at the rear of the field.
ANGUS BURGA - raced three wide from inside the 1100 metres until reaching a position outside the leader passing the 600 metres.

ADIEU FLIRT - held up over the early stages of the run home.
DIVINE JUSTICE - after working hard early to reach the lead this well supported runner then weakened to finish 7th, 5.4 lengths in arrears of the winner. Driver/Caretaker Trainer T Mitchell advised he was disappointed with the horse's run. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
OUR PERSEUS - a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a respiratory infection. A veterinary certificate of fitness is required before it resumes. Trainer T Macfarlane advised that he is going to treat the gelding and then turn it out for a spell.
COOKING WITH GAS - weakened inside the final 500 metres.

A false start was declared when the 20 metre barrier strand contacted the front legs of RED CASTLETON.
SPEEDY LAVROS - contacted a track marker at the winning post when placed in tight quarters.
LUNDQVIST - broke passing the 2700, 2200 and 400 metres. The connections were advised that the gelding is to trial satisfactorily before resuming.
AIN'T NO PRINCESS - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
DANKE - broke approaching the 2900 metres inconveniencing trailing runners.
SIR HENRY CASTLETON - broke at the start settling at the rear of the field. Broke again briefly at the 600 metres.
PRIMUS INTER PARES - trotted roughly for several strides when there was an easing of the pace passing the 1300 metres.
ALTA VENETIA - the mare's boring pole was removed causing a slight delay to the start. Raced keenly in the lead over the early stages.
SAFRAKOVA - inconvenienced by a galloping runner approaching the 2900 metres. Checked for a stride when there was an easing of the pace passing the 1300 metres.
MAJESTIC ONE - over-raced through the middle stages. Checked for a stride when there was an easing of the pace passing the 1300 metres.

RED ATOM - broke free of interference approaching the 400 metres checking a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
JUST WING IT - inclined to lay in rounding the bends giving Junior Driver N Purdon a difficult drive. Checked and broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance. Following the race the gelding was treated by the Veterinarian for a cut to its right fore pastern.

EDAMFAST - caught three wide for the first 700 metres before being eased to the rear.

CHARLEMAGNE - held up rounding the final bend.
MR GOOD AND EVIL - galloped for a few strides at the start. Improved forward over the early stages to lead approaching the 1500 metres. Rounding the home bend the gelding shifted out one sulky width prior to the passing lane. Driver M Wallis was questioned by Stewards in regard to the gelding's performance at this stage of the race. She advised that the horse wears a rein pricker on the near side and is inclined to shift ground to the left and that she constantly attempted to correct the gelding inward when rounding the bend. After reviewing the video coverage with Ms Wallis her explanation was accepted.
KD HALL - broke approaching the 700 metres losing ground. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners record.
GERSHWIN - broke shortly after the start and again on numerous occasions, failing to settle losing all chance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R Paynter advised that the gelding was racing in a fresh state being its first start since 21st July 2017 and that its track work had been good leading into the event.
 
Race 7KERRY HOGGARD MEMORIAL- THE HOLMES DG HANDICAP PACEVideo  Video 
SOLID GOLD - broke at the start. Obliged to race three wide for a short distance passing the 2000 metres after NORTHVIEW HUSTLER shifted away from the marker line. Stewards were satisfied that SOLID GOLD had not been making a forward movement in this incident and no further action was deemed necessary.
FLEETING GRIN - lay in and contacted pylons rounding the home bend.
RAPTORS FLIGHT - broke at the start. Driver S Phelan advised that after activating the hopple shorteners the cords became entangled in the hopples but did not affect the gelding's performance.
NORTHVIEW HUSTLER - broke for a couple of strides and was slow away.
JO'S DREAM - raced three wide early before being restrained to the rear.
JACK'S LEGEND - when questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the middle stages, Driver Z Butcher stated that he elected to remain on the marker line, rather than shift out to lead up the one out running line, as he felt that this was the better option due to being confident that he would be able to shift away from the markers at a later stage to race with cover preferably on the back of one of the favoured runners. Mr Butcher further explained that NORTHVIEW HUSTLER, which he had followed from the 900 metres, hadn't taken him into the race as he had anticipated and that JACK'S LEGEND had peaked on its run over the final stages.

M T POCKETS - held up rounding the final bend and the early stages of the run home.
HIGH POINT - briefly contested a position racing into the first bend.
CHEVRON SUPREME - broke early in the score up and recovered to take its correct barrier position at the start.
THREE KISSES - briefly contested a position racing into the first bend.

GOTTABEAROSE - paced roughly for a stride approaching the 1700 metres, causing a check to a trailing runner.
DESTINED FOR HEAVEN - broke passing the 400 metres. A warning was placed on this mare's racing manners record.
COMPLETE PACKAGE - inconvenienced momentarily approaching the 1700 metres.
BUBBLE GUM - checked for a stride when there was an easing of the pace approaching the 1700 metres An Information was lodged under Rule 869(2) alleging that Driver A Drake used his whip in breach of the Whip Regulations over the final 400 metres. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
VANHALEM - no claims were lodged.

BESSIE BROWN - Trainers J and J Dickie were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 for late notification of a driver for the mare. Broke passing the 1600 metres losing several lengths and again passing the 950 metres. A warning was placed on this mare's racing manners record.

JAMIESON SHARD - broke at the start losing its chance.
