Race Comments
Race 1CHRISTCHURCH CASINO MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
QUEEN OF GLORY - held up on the final bend by a tiring runner.
DIVINIA BELLEZZA - over-raced middle stages. Held up on the final bend by a tiring runner. Driver T Chmiel advised he received a punctured sulky tyre at this time and the deafeners were not activated in consequence. Stewards determined that this occurred due to an easing of the pace from the weakening runner.
IMMORTAL CHANGE - raced fiercely in the middle stages. Stewards questioned driver S Ottley regarding her tactics near the 700 metres when electing to maintain a position in the two wide line and turn down an opportunity to improve three wide with cover. Miss Ottley explained that since the horse had graduated out of the maiden class she had driven it with cover as she felt it was not suited to having to work at any stage prior to the final straight. She added that at the time she was following well supported runners and had she shifted wider at this time would potentially have been forced to race four wide on the final bend without cover which in her opinion would have extinguished her chances. Stewards also questioned trainer M Jones who advised that it was his preference for the mare to be driven in this manner tonight and going forward and when considering her rating assessment compared with others in tonight's field, felt her best chance was being driven with cover for as long as possible. After considering their explanations, Stewards took the matter no further.
