SCARLETT BANNER - hampered in the score up and as a result was out of position at the candy pole. Driver G Smith was questioned regarding his decision not to utilise the passing lane in the initial 100 metres of the home straight. Mr Smith explained that at the previous start the mare had raced roughly when inclined to hang outwards so he had made gear alterations in an endeavour to correct this however these had not worked as anticipated with the mare still inclined to hang tonight. Mr Smith said because of this he felt the mare was better suited to shifting outwards but the run he had expected to eventuate, did not so he had to shift inwards costing him some momentum and fluency in her gait. He further added that despite being held up for some distance he was disappointed with the manner she had finished the race off which he attributed to her frequent recent racing and it was his intention to send the horse for a let up. He also advised that upon return from being freshened he would be reluctant to have the horse driven with cover against the pylons and felt she was best when able to improve wide.
TIJUANA TAXI - hampered in the score up and as a result was out of position at the candy pole. Driver M Williamson advised the deafeners were not activated due to the mare trotting roughly in the home straight.
