Driver J Curtin was stood down from his remaining driving engagement following Race 6 after feeling unwell and was replaced as per the summary below.

Race 1 - CHRISTCHURCH CASINO MOBILE TROT
Trainer D McCormick advised Stewards on 16 September that blood tests taken from SUGAR CANE revealed that the mare was suffering from muscle tie up and dehydration and is now being treated.
Race 4 - ANTHONY SHEARER LTD 'ORDEAL TROTTING CUP' (MOBILE TROT)
Driver S Tomlinson (acting as the stable representative for Trainer K Ford) approached Stewards today in regards to the publication on HRNZ's website quoting Mr Ford as saying that AMARETTO SUN had come down with a virus leading up to the Ordeal Trotting Cup. Miss Tomlinson advised that this was not the case and that Mr Ford had been misreported.

Trainer K Townley advised Stewards on 16 September that subsequent to this race FIRENZE was found to be suffering from a respiratory infection and is now being treated.

STATELY - held up early stages of the run home.
VALZONA - broke briefly at the start. Broke again after 100 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
BETTERTHANSPRAYING - broke at the start. Driver T Chmiel reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord breaking.
LINKED IN - shifted outwards slightly at the start and came together with SMIRKEN, unbalancing driver J Young. Broke shortly after losing all chance.
SMIRKEN - shifted inwards slightly at the start and came together with LINKED IN. Broke shortly after. Hung inwards through the early stages of the run home.
LOISSONYA - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after trainer B Negus reported the mare had sustained a kick to a leg earlier in the week and was cleared to start. Driver S O'Reilly reported that the outside hopple shortener had become entangled in a hopple carrier upon activation.
SHECANDANCE - began awkwardly and broke briefly shortly after the start.

ALGRANCO ALBYONE - driver G Smith advised Stewards that the gelding would be restrained in the early stages circumstances permitting due to the horse not finishing its races off as expected when racing in a forward position at its two most recent starts.

MY MATE BEN - slow to begin. Held up leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance, driver G Smith reported the gelding had raced greenly during the running and had performed to his expectations.
GALLEONS CONNOISSEUR - held up leaving the final bend.
MAGICOL IDEAL - held up leaving the final bend and throughout the home straight.
MONGOLIAN SPEAR - hung inwards final bend. Driver P Court will be spoken to regarding the manner he drove in the home straight.
KENNEDY - broke briefly near the 1600 metres. Broke again near the 250 metres.
ADJUDICATOR - paced roughly shortly after the start. Hung inwards in the home straight.
DAYS OF REDEMPTION - held up leaving the final bend.
PHOENIX ARIZONA - slow to begin. Over-raced early stages. Paced roughly and raced fiercely rounding the first bend causing driver J Curtin considerable difficulty. Eased out of the race passing the 1000 metres. Driver J Curtin reported the gelding had been striking his sulky wheels and had proved uncontrollable.
A BETTER DANCER - underwent a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the stabling area with blood present in the mouth. This examination revealed a minor laceration to the gelding's tongue.

WOT UP - slow to begin. Held up late in the run home. Driver S McNally admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
WANDERING STAR - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
LAURA BUSH - broke after 150 metres. Trotted roughly near the 250 metres.
FUTURE QUEEN - broke after 150 metres.
IDEAL INVASION - broke shortly after the start.
IMRAN KHAN - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
THE REV - trotted roughly and broke near the 600 metres.

MR ASIA - checked near the 250 metres. Held up for clear racing room near the 100 metres.
AWESOME RUSH - hung outwards as the start was effected crowding outside runner. Hung inwards on the bend near the 600 metres. Lay outwards in the home straight.
BHAKTI - crowded shortly after the start and broke losing all chance and was retired from the race.
I'M JIMMY JAMES - shifted inwards marginally as the start was effected crowding inside runner.
THE KAIK - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
JULES MANZONI - held up early stages of the run home.
HURRICANE BANNER - shifted inwards near the 250 metres crowding MR ASIA which paced roughly and EJA PATRON which broke. Junior Driver S Tomlinson, who was assisted by J Cox in the initial investigation, admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she had driven carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended her Horsewoman's licence from the conclusion of racing on 22 September up to and including 28 September (3 days). Miss Tomlinson reported she was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
EJA PATRON - held up early stages of the run home. Checked and broke near the 250 metres.
MORDECAI - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
PINE CONE - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend and had to be steadied. Hung inwards throughout the home straight.

ZULU COURAGE - broke at the start hampering trailing runner.
ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN - driver L Lester reported her outside hopple shortener had become entangled around the hopple carrier upon activation.
CHRISTMAS TOYBOY - paced roughly racing into the first bend. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver K Butt reported that the horse had been unsuited to racing parked.
MYBOYLOLLIEPOP - underwent a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the stabling area with blood present in the mouth. This examination revealed a minor abrasion to the lower lip of the gelding.
OUT OF ACES - a hopple side carrier came adrift during the running. Trainer G Scott was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to affix the gear so as not to come adrift. Driver A Fitzgerald reported that he had been unable to activate a hopple shortener due to the pin becoming entangled.
BEAU VISTA - hampered near the 300 metres.
ARDEN'S WINSTAR - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened final bend.
DUNDEE LADY - shifted outwards leaving the final bend when improving wider on the track. Driver B Hope was warned to display a greater level of control.
BOHANNAN - broke at the start.
BILLIE JEAN - broke near the 850 metres after contacting the sulky wheel of THE CROUPIER. Driver J Harrington, who declined assistance from a Senior Horseman, admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident and after submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
SENORITA MARGARITA - hampered at the start and then broke shortly after.
CORENA LEA - held up middle stages of the run home.
ROSINUPTHEBOW - hampered near the 300 metres.
THE CROUPIER - broke near the 40 metres and continued in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing under Rule 870(5) and the Breaking Horse Regulations after THE CROUPIER was lapped on at the finish by MYBOYLOLLIEPOP and OUT OF ACES. The connections did not contest the protest and THE CROUPIER was relegated to 6th placing by the JCA. Driver S Tomlinson reported her horse had struck a knee causing it to break.

FLAMBOYANT - broke at the start. Checked and broke near the 500 metres.
ARTICULIGHT - checked and broke near the 500 metres.
RAINY RIVER - checked and broke near the 500 metres.
ROCKI WARRIOR - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
BAILEYS KNIGHT - broke near the 500 metres checking trailing runners. Trainer/driver J Harrington reported that the horse had become unbalanced on the final bend and had knuckled over causing it to break. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
QUEEN BEE BARDON - broke at the start.

CUCKOOS NEST - slow away.
DON'T ROCK THE BOAT - broke after 150 metres.
RACHMANINOV - hung inwards rounding the first bend. Driver T Grant was warned for half carting passing the 1300 metres.
DIANA HARBOUR - raced keenly near the 1400 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the concluding stages. Driver K Hodgson admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she used her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and after submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $200. Miss Hodgson was also spoken to advisedly for attempting a marginal run late in the run home.
RED HOT ROCKET - hung inwards throughout the run home. Driver G Smith was warned to ensure his whip remains within the confines of the sulky.
TRICK STAR - broke at the start.

TRAILER PARK GIRL - Stewards questioned driver K Tomlinson (assisted by R May) regarding the tactics she adopted in the early stages of the run home when electing to shift outwards from the trail instead of waiting to utilise the passing lane. Miss Tomlinson explained that the leader OHOKA JOHNNY had commenced to weaken and felt her best option was to shift outwards in search of clear running rather than maintain her position and lose momentum. After hearing from Miss Tomlinson, Stewards accepted her explanation and took the matter no further.
SELENA FRANCO - paced roughly in the home straight.
DOWNTOWN TRAIN - raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend. Driver H Hunter reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MYSISTERSASTAR - hung inwards final bend and struck pylons. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
VENETO - T Williams was an authorised late driver change due to J Curtin being unwell.
LEADING THE WAY - raced wide early stages. Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
OHOKA JOHNNY - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened leaving the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MR MIDNIGHT - held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
DREAMY DAMIEN - held up leaving the final bend.
GOODLOOKIN CHICK - when spoken to regarding the performance driver R May could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of being in season.
GYPSY'S CHOICE - lay inwards throughout the run home.
