GREAT FANTASY - broke at the start for a short distance settling quickly. Inclined to lay in rounding the bends. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained a mild abrasion on the right hand side of the neck due to the rubbing of the burr.
STOW - broke passing the 200 metres.
AIN'T NO PRINCESS - broke shortly after the start and continued in a gallop for a distance.
AS FREE AS AIR - broke passing the 2000 metres.
THE PLAYER - trotted roughly down the back straight the final time losing its position trailing the leader. Continued to trot roughly throughout the run home with Driver J Dickie being unable to drive the gelding to full advantage.
MASS DESTRUCTION - broke approaching the 600 metres and again passing the 150 metres when racing toward the rear.

ABOUT TURN - held up rounding the final bend and over the early and middle stages of the run home.
ABRAHAM - inclined to over-race when being restrained to a trail rounding the first bend. Held up over the early stages of the run home.
IDEAL FAITH - paced roughly when racing three wide without cover rounding the final bend.
WHERETHERESAWILL - briefly contested a position in the two wide line approaching the 1900 metres.
IDEAL TIGER - paced roughly late in the score up then broke losing several lengths. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
JETSON HUNTER - broke passing the 1800 metres before settling at the rear of the field. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
PEKESON - broke passing the 1900 metres after briefly contesting a position with WHERETHERESAWILL. Stewards accepted Driver T Macfarlane's explanation that the gelding became unbalanced when he relinquished the position and broke.
MACHBRAD - failed to get clear racing room until inside the final 50 metres.

THE HULK - over-raced after being shifted from the running line to race one out without cover inside the 1300 metres.
MR GOOD AND EVIL - a Protest was lodged against the gelding's 3rd placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation in that it galloped in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres. The Protest was not contested and the JCA disqualified MR GOOD AND EVIL.
SPEEDING SPUR - Trainer J Dickie (Senior) notified Stewards that it was the connections' intention to race the entire with cover during the running and save it for one final sprint.

SILVIA - inconvenienced by a weakening runner inside the final 500 metres.
DIVINE JUSTICE - raced greenly rounding the final bend for the run home.
FLYING STEPS - raced greenly throughout and failed to maintain contact with the field throughout.
BROOKE'S IMAGE - weakened inside the final 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
WHITEHAVEN BEACH - failed to maintain contact with the field throughout.
MEGOVER - failed to maintain contact with the field throughout.

SEQUOIA - weakened from inside the 600 metres.
MONARCHY INVASION - backed away at the start and was slow away. Broke passing the 1500 metres, settling toward the rear of the field.
PRINCE GEORGE - impeded in the passing lane, promoted from 3rd to 2nd.
WHIPS N SPURS - galloped passing the 350 metres losing its chance.
COOL SON - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
SAFRAKOVA - impeded shortly after the start by a front line runner being slow away. Broke passing the 2400 metres and failed to settle galloping a distance.
ANGUS BURGA - a Protest was lodged under Rule 869A(2) against the gelding's 2nd placing on the grounds that it impeded the progress of the 3rd placed PRINCE GEORGE when it lay in over the concluding stages of the race, failing to allow full access to the passing lane and locking sulky wheels with PRINCE GEORGE with approximately 50 metres to run.
The Protest was not contested and ANGUS BURGA was relegated from 2nd to 3rd place. No action was taken against Horseman B Mangos due to the horse's racing manners.
BAR ROOM BRAWL - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
JANSSON - three wide with cover from the 1000 metres.
GEENA'S GIRL - raced three wide from the 1000 metres.

SPIRIT OF ANZAC - held up rounding the final bend and held up again inside the final 50 metres.
TROJAN BANNER - over-raced in the lead over the middle stages.
RECCO LOVER - Driver A Poutama advised that he steadily improved the gelding from mid-field over the early stages to sit outside the leader. Approaching the 1200 metres he attempted to improve forward to take the lead and the gelding skied its head and paced roughly and that the lead horse on his inside began to over-race which prevented him from crossing to the lead. Rounding the home bend and during the run home RECCO LOVER fought on fairly with Mr Poutama commenting that it was disappointing as he expected it to put in a better performance.
BAQUERO - paced roughly late in the score up and was half a length out of position at the start.

MAKE WAY - became trapped four deep on the running line from inside the 1700 metres, shifted from the running line to the two wide line inside the 1000 metres, three wide at the 400 metres then four wide rounding the home bend and ran on for 5th placing three lengths from the winner. The last two quarters were run in 28.1 and 28.0 seconds. Driver D Butcher advised he was unlucky to become trapped early and that considering the last sectionals run, he was happy with the horse's performance.

MACH SHARD - broke at the start settling 50 metres later having lost ground.
NORTHVIEW HUSTLER - unable to obtain clear running until inside the final 50 metres.

I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - raced three deep on the running line, paced roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the run home. Trainer R Green advised that the mare was striking its front left knee and had difficulty getting round the bends and he would be making gear adjustments in the coming week. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare sustained a swollen left front knee. A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before it resumes racing.
THE LONE RANGER - held up early stages of the run home and then failed to get clear racing room inside the final 100 metres.
BENSON BOYS - Junior Driver M Lewis with the assistance of Senior Horseman S Phelan was shown the video coverage of her drive in particular when she shifted ground outward off the back of GOTTABEAROSE contacting the sulky wheel passing the 200 metres.
TARAMAKAU REACTOR - attempted to improve in restricted room in the passing lane and was held up over the final 70 metres.

THE PERSUADER - Driver A Poutama advised that the sliding blinds did not correctly activate.
GOT A BEAUTY - caught three wide for the first 700 metres before improving to race outside the leader.
ATOM HANOVER - Junior Driver S Iremonger was reminded of his obligations regarding the checking in procedure after the event.
