| TAKENOPRISONERS - briefly held up near the 200 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver M Williamson advised the horse at its last start had worked through the middle stages to gain a forward position but had been disappointing over the final stages. For that reason he was reluctant to do so again, especially as he considered today's opposition to be of a better calibre than he had met on that occasion. | |

| ITZ MAJOR LOOK - when spoken to regarding the performance, driver S Ottley reported the horse which was having its first start had raced greenly throughout and she felt the gelding would derive benefit from the experience. | |
| PHOENIX ARIZONA - broke at the start. Held up final bend. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight. | |
| DON'T TELL ANGE - broke after 150 metres. Authorisation of 2nd place was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages. | |
| VALZONA - had to be steadied racing into the first bend and broke. | |

| GOLD LEDGER - fractious prior to the start. Broke after 100 metres losing all chance. Driver C Thornley advised he would be recommending that the mare race in hopples at its next start. | |
| XMAS BAY - hung inwards on the bend near the 1500 metres. Again hung inwards final bend and struck pylons. Continued to hang inwards in the run home. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts. | |
