TAIERI MISS - shifted outwards in the home straight. Driver B Williamson was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
THATGIRLTROUBLE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
DANIELLE MARIE - broke near the 150 metres.
RYDGEMONT SON - slow in the early stages. Driver M Williamson was questioned as to whether he could have improved three wide in the middle stages. Mr Williamson explained that the horse was having its first start back from a spell and he had been instructed to drive the horse with one run after winning at the recent Timaru trials when driven in a similar fashion. Mr Williamson added that he had been disappointed with the effort of the horse. Trainer M Tapper confirmed the instructions given to Mr Williamson and advised that at this stage of the horse's career it would continue to be driven in this manner when circumstances permit.
MAJESTIC ROSE - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Broke again with 1500 metres to run losing its chance.
CLYDE - raced greenly passing the 1400 metres briefly losing ground. Hung inwards leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
FEKITOA - driver T McMillan was reminded of his obligations to ensure he drives his horse out fully to the end of the race.

BIG SMOKE - hung outwards and paced roughly shortly after the start.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER - when spoken to regarding the improved performance co trainer J Kennett explained that the horse had been running on well in recent starts and the stable was confident of a forward showing. Mr Kennett added the horse had been able to capitalise on an economical run throughout.
DE LANCOME - when spoken to regarding the performance driver M Anderson advised that he had been disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate and a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up the recovery of DE LANCOME with connections in the coming days.
ANNA BARCLAY - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance, driver D Dunn stated that the mare had felt flat throughout and had been disappointing. Trainer M Tapper advised that the mare would now be sent for a spell.
EYE CANDY - out of position at the start. Driver B Munro was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. Over-raced middle stages.

WESTAR SAM - broke briefly at the start. Checked and broke near the 300 metres.
ENCHANTEE - held up final bend. Checked near the 300 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until late in the run home.
JACK PACK - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Paced roughly rounding the first bend and continued to lose ground.
SHEEZA SPORT - over raced middle stages. Checked near the 300 metres. Held up final bend.
RAINY RIVER - hampered at the start.
SMARTER VC - trainer R Todd was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice after being late to lodge a trainer notification. Hampered at the start. Checked near the 300 metres.
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - broke at the start. Locked wheels with BOOMER BAILEY near the 300 metres and had to be steadied.
BOOMER BAILEY - hung outwards rounding the final bend and locked wheels with DONEGAL CARRICKFIN resulting in checks to trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - slow to begin.

REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CANTWELLS GOLD - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Paced roughly racing into the first bend. Continued to pace roughly through the middle stages. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BICTON - the required veterinary clearance was received. Broke at the start. Weakened final bend.
ADJUDICATOR - hampered at the start. Checked by RAGING THUNDER shortly after the start. Paced roughly middle stages. Hung outwards final bend.
TARAMAKAU REACTOR - paced roughly in the early stages. Driver L O'Reilly was warned to make a greater effort to ensure he leaves access to the passing lane for trailing runners at all times.
TIN ROOF BLUES - broke at the start.
RAGING THUNDER - broke at the start and shifted inwards checking ADJUDICATOR before losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.

TRICK STAR - trotted roughly in the home straight and had to be steadied.
GREY POWER - trotted roughly rounding the first bend.
PYRAMID MAGIC - trotted roughly in the home straight.
RED HOT POKER - over-raced middle stages.

GO TODDY - raced greenly in the score up. Hung outwards and continued to race greenly throughout the remainder of the race.
SANTANNA LAD - raced wide early stages. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Raced greenly near the 50 metres. Driver S Ottley reported that she had difficulty steering her runner over the concluding stages.
SKYLA FRANCO - weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ONEDIN EXPRESS - over-raced for a distance passing the 1300 metres.
JINGLE JINGLE - raced wide early stages. Hung inwards final bend.
TABITHA FRANCO - hung inwards in the run home.
THE LAST STRAW - driver R Houghton admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submission of penalty the JCA suspended Mr Houghton's licence from the conclusion of racing on 5 August 2018 up to and including 23 August 2018 (4 days).

CLOVER LOU - broke at the start.
MUSCLE PAT - broke at the start.
JANUCCI GIRL - broke racing into the first bend. Weakened final bend.
EDEN CREEK - checked by a breaking runner racing into the first bend resulting in driver T Chmiel becoming unbalanced in the sulky.
CHIEF OF STAFF - trotted roughly in the home straight.
TAIMATE RAFFA - broke racing into the first bend. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
HUMBLE LADD - broke at the start.
 
Race 8MERIDIAN MALL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
ALEXY - Junior driver C Purvis, assisted by M Williamson, admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she used her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
WAR HORSE - broke in the score up and was well out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile record. Weakened from the 800 metres and was retired from the race with Driver T Quate reporting that the gelding was making abnormal breathing noises. As a result the gelding was stood down pending a veterinary clearance with Co-trainer T Chmiel advising Stewards that WAR HORSE will be scoped in the coming days. Stewards will follow up with the results of this scope and the recovery of the gelding.
CHAAAT - weakened final bend. Stewards questioned driver A Veint regarding the manner he drove near the 1900 metres when MAGIC BLAZE was able to improve outwards from the marker line onto the back of TRAILER PARK GIRL. Mr Veint explained that he had been urging his horse forward however THE GOLDEN BOY and TRAILER PARK GIRL had improved quickly leaving his horse flat footed which had enabled MAGIC BLAZE to shift ground outwards ahead of his runner. After hearing from Mr Veint, Stewards took the matter no further.
COMMAND LUSTRE - raced wide early stages.
NERVE OF STEEL - raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend.
TRAILER PARK GIRL - over raced middle stages. Weakened final bend.

BHAKTI - placed in restricted room rounding the first bend and had to be steadied.
SHINDAL - hung outwards throughout the home straight. Driver N Williamson will be spoken to regarding the manner he drove in the run home.
BABY'S IN BLACK - placed in restricted room rounding the first bend and had to be steadied. Hung inwards final bend. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
DONEGAL MARY FRANCIS - had to be steadied late in the run home when crowded for racing room.
CHLOE - shifted inwards near the 500 metres hampering inside runner. Driver S Ottley was issued with a warning.
CLIVE - shifted inwards rounding the first bend crowding inside runners. Driver G Ross was issued with a warning. Placed in restricted room near the 500 metres and had to be steadied. Driver G Ross admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
CHRISTMAS TOYBOY - paced roughly on several occasions rounding the final bend and lost ground. Driver C Thornley reported the gelding had been striking a knee.
