FEKITOA - Stewards questioned driver T McMillan regarding the manner in which he drove over the concluding stages, in particular his lack of vigour. Mr McMillan explained that his horse had raced parked for a considerable distance and on the final bend had lay inwards as a result of being under pressure He said the horse was not able to be driven aggressively due to it trotting indifferently when tried with the whip. He added that the horse lacked for speed and so intended to drive the horse in a similar manner in future and expected it would take some time before the horse was able to accept being driven more aggressively. Stewards also spoke with Trainer N Perkins who confirmed the comments of Mr McMillan. After considering their explanations the matter was taken no further.
