WHANGAMATA - broke shortly after the start. Hung inwards final bend.
WAYWARD ROC - broke near the 200 metres.
TAIERI MISS - stood on the mark and then broke losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the standing start record of the mare.
MADABOY - lay outwards through the back straight on the final occasion.
DANIELLE MARIE - trotted roughly in the home straight and was unable to be fully driven out.
NOBLE GAMBLE - hampered by breaking runner after 100 metres.

AFRO DIZZY YAK - broke at the start losing all chance.
SEFTON HOOLIGAN - paced roughly in the run home. Driver D Reardon dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear in the home straight. Mr Reardon was issued with a warning to ensure his foot returns to the sulky footrest at the earliest opportunity.
ARMSTRONG - lay outwards in the home straight.
MACH O'MELLEY - broke at the start. Weakened from the 300 metres.
BELLE MACH - held up for clear racing room leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
ONEDIN EXPRESS - broke at the start.
LAST HARAH - hampered at the start by breaking runner. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.

BETTER GALLEON - weakened from the 400 metres.
JAMIES BAD BOY - hung outwards in the score up and was back slightly at the start. Stewards questioned Driver B Orange regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages when trailing TACT DENZEL until near the 1300 metres. Mr Orange explained that the gelding had been racing well with cover in recent starts and had been reluctant to shift ground to race in the open as the speed of the race had been very strong in the early stages. Mr Orange added that TACT DENZEL had failed to advance him into the race and once he had become aware that the leaders had steadied the pace he elected to shift outwards in an attempt to improve his position.
TACT DENZEL - weakened from the 600 metres. Stewards questioned Driver R McIlwrick as to whether he could have made a better effort to maintain his position closer to the front of the field down the back straight on the first occasion. Mr McIlwrick explained that he had made gear changes to the horse since its last start by adding sliding blinds however the horse had raced lethargically and had failed to respond to his urgings and continued to lose ground on the field. A warning was placed on the racing performance of TACT DENZEL. Mr McIlwrick advised that he would no longer persevere with the horse from his stable.
SHINDAL - when questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised that the horse is one paced and had been suited to the fast tempo of the race after receiving an economical run throughout.
BE HOLME BY THREE - Stewards questioned Driver N Williamson regarding the manner he drove in the middle stages when not improving his position outwards. Mr Williamson explained that the gelding had been very disappointing in recent starts and for that reason was reluctant to attempt to improve his position without cover.
MATINEE IDOL - Driver M Williamson reported the gelding had been striking the sulky wheels.
DREAMINSOVER - weakened from the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.

JINGLE JINGLE - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Weakened from the 600 metres.
YANKEE MISS - raced keenly middle stages. When spoken to regarding the performance, Driver S Tomlinson reported she had been disappointed with the effort of the filly. Trainer C Ferguson advised that he would give consideration to sending the horse for a spell.
BEAUDIENE EMERALD - when spoken to regarding the performance of the filly Driver D Dunn could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse was suffering from tachycardia. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance. The connections advised the horse would no longer be persevered with from their stable.
NOTAWORD - raced wide early stages.
BATTLE AXE - held up final bend. Paced roughly final bend and in the home straight.
OLD LUKE - hung inwards throughout the home straight.

TETRICK - held up final bend.
ESSENCE OF EASTON - Driver B Norman dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear near the 250 metres. Mr Norman was issued with a warning to ensure his foot returns to the sulky footrest at the earliest opportunity.
AVEROSS FERRARI - raced wide early stages. Held up final bend. Driver D O'Connell admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 2200 metres when shifting inwards checking WESTAR SAM which had to be steadied losing ground. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr O'Connell's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 19 August 2018 (5 days).
WESTAR SAM - raced wide early stages. Checked near the 2200 metres and had to be steadied.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER - broke at the start.
FATHERDANTHERODEOMAN - paced roughly shortly after the start. Weakened from the 400 metres. Driver S Tomlinson was warned to ensure she starts from the correct barrier position.
BILLY KLONDIKE - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Weakened final bend.
SHEEZA SPORT - broke briefly at the start. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
PAUL'S VERDICT - hampered at the start and paced roughly. Weakened final bend.

ANNA BARCLAY - raced keenly when leading.
CHIEF KAPAI - raced wide early stages. Driver B Laughton reported the gelding had over raced through the middle stages.
SCOTLYNN JUSTIS - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1100 metres.
OMAR SHARIF - raced wide middle stages.
NEVE FRANCO - held up leaving the final bend.
ELLNBAC - weakened from the 500 metres. A post race Veterinary examination revealed a mild case of the thumps. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with trainer B McLellan in the coming days.
ALEXY - out of position at the start. Driver D O'Connell was issued with a warning. Held up by a tiring runner final bend.
 
Race 7PATRICIA HANSON MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
IMRAN KHAN - held up final bend. Stewards questioned driver K Butt regarding her decision not to improve outwards into the 1x1 in the middle stages and instead remain three back on the marker line. Miss Butt explained that she had been reluctant to shift ground to follow OCH AYE THE NOO as that runner had been racing fiercely through the early and middle stages and felt as IMRAN KHAN is best driven with a sit, the horse would be better suited to saving ground on the marker line as opposed to having to improve wide on the track. After hearing from Miss Butt, Stewards were satisfied that her tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
TAIMATE RAFFA - trotted roughly racing into the first bend. Broke briefly near the 100 metres after again trotting roughly
BONO HEST - shifted outwards leaving the final bend. Driver E Barron was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
OCH AYE THE NOO - over raced through the early and middle stages whilst in the parked position.
DUSKY EYRE - trotted roughly middle stages.
KIWI CRUSHER - trotted roughly and broke after 200 metres.
SPLASH COLA - stood on the mark losing ground. A warning was placed on the standing start record of the mare.

REGAL MAJOR - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
DIRECT CONTROL - when spoken to regarding the performance Driver B Orange reported the gelding may have been feeling the effects of recent racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. The connections advised the horse would be sent for a spell.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - placed in restricted room on the bend near the 900 metres. Hung inwards final bend and briefly locked wheels with DEBNITA ROSE.
GLENISTHEBETTOR - held up final bend. Driver K Butt (assisted by Senior Horseman B Orange) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she used her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use Of Whip Regulations and was fined $200 by the JCA.
THE MANIPULATOR - hung inwards shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Hung inwards throughout the run home.
DEBNITA ROSE - raced wide early stages. Hung inwards on the bend near the 900 metres placing FRANCO HUNTINGTON in restricted room. Weakened final bend. Briefly locked wheels with FRANCO HUNTINGTON near the 350 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, Driver D Dunn explained that the mare had been difficult to steer and he had been disappointed with her effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities with connections advising that they would give consideration to sending the mare for a spell. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the horse in the coming days.
OHOKA JOHNNY - late scratching at 8.44am on Veterinary advice.
 
Race 9NEXT RACE MEETING SUNDAY 5TH AUGUST MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
MAGNETIC WATCH - came together with KOTARE ELITE late in the run home.
FERRITTS SISTER - checked near the 100 metres and had to be steadied. Stewards questioned Driver R McIlwrick regarding his decision not to utilise the passing lane in the home straight. Mr McIlwrick explained that the filly had been hanging outwards rounding the bend and felt it was in his best interests to shift outwards when clearance existed.
KOTARE ELITE - shifted outwards in the home straight checking FERRITTS SISTER. Came together with MAGNETIC WATCH late in the run home. Stewards issued Driver N Williamson a charge under Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations in that he failed to maintain a straight course in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Williamson was fined $300.
PETE'S DASH - hung inwards in the early stages when being restrained towards the rear of the field. Raced wide middle stages. Weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding performance Driver B Orange reported that the gelding had felt lethargic and had been disappointing. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the horse in the coming days with Trainer D Simpson.
JULES MANZONI - weakened final bend.
CLIFTON FLUTTER - raced wide early stages. Raced keenly for a distance passing the 1300 metres when being restrained to obtain cover.
COMMAND LUSTRE - held up final bend. Hung inwards throughout the home straight.
BUB'S VC - hung inwards and struck a pylon near the 250 metres.
