Race 1ARTHUR CATES LTD MOBILE TROTVideo  Video 
LITTLE MISS - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare. Locked wheels with the breaking HE WAS ROMEO near the 400 metres dislodging driver T Jellyman. Mr Jellyman was examined by St John paramedics and cleared to fulfill his remaining driving engagement. A post-race veterinary examination of LITTLE MISS revealed no abnormalities.
HE WAS ROMEO - broke near the 500 metres. Locked wheels with LITTLE MISS approaching the 400 metres resulting in R Cameron being unbalanced in the sulky.
LOUIS MOSS - driver K Butt reported she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SUGARINSPICE - raced wide early stages. Broke near the 200 metres.
NOBLE MISTRESS - raced wide early stages.
ROGIE FALLS - trotted roughly in the score up and was back from the unruly at the start. Again trotted roughly in the home straight. Stewards questioned driver S McNally regarding the tactics he adopted during the running when not improving his position prior to the home straight. Mr McNally explained that at this stage of the gelding's career it was still prone to trotting roughly and he was reluctant to place the horse under pressure. Mr McNally also stated that he was aware of the fast tempo of the race and due to this, he thought it was not prudent to improve through the middle stages. Stewards noted his comments.

ROSINUPTHEBOW - held up in the early stages of the run home.
ZIPPIDY DOODAH - raced wide early and middle stages.
DON'T TELL ANGE - raced wide early stages.
MIRANDA CULLEN - stumbled and broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare. Trainer T Jellyman advised he would be adding an over check to the horse's gear.
COLLECTABLE LADY - hung inwards in the home straight.
FRANCESCA CUMANI - paced roughly near the 100 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation.
LIGHT YEAR FRANCO - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Lay inwards leaving the final bend.
FLYIN MILLY MAC - driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the filly's deafeners due to having the field covered.
SUPERNATURAL - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Curtin. Held up early stages of the run home.

STAR PRIDE - held up on the home turn and early stages of the run home. Broke with 100 metres to run.
CHIEF OF STAFF - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
WANDERING STAR - trotted roughly in the early stages.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
DON'T ROCK THE BOAT - slow to begin.
WESTAR BELLA - placed in restricted room passing the 200 metres.
WOT UP - raced wide early stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
HOLLY TROUBLE - raced wide early stages.
MUSCLE PAT - when questioned regarding the performance, driver D Dunn advised that he was not disappointed given that he was unable to make ground due to the three wide line not progressing from the 800 metres as he had anticipated, leaving the gelding with too much ground to make up in the home straight.
MAJESTIC MOMENT - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Stewards questioned driver S Ottley regarding her decision to shift ground inwards rounding the final bend as opposed to remaining in the three wide line. Miss Ottley explained that the three wide line had failed to progress forward resulting in her becoming poorly positioned towards the rear of the field and felt her best option was to shift inwards to save ground rather than being forced to race very wide to improve around runners. Stewards noted Miss Ottley's comments.

Prior to this event the track was downgraded to good.
FYNN FROST - hung outwards throughout causing driver K Cameron some difficulty. Trainer/driver K Cameron advised he would be making gear changes before the gelding resumes. A post-race veterinary examination revealed back pain in the lumber and sacral region with treatment recommended. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
OUR BURLING - hung outwards throughout the home straight and because of this was not able to be shifted into the passing lane. Held up middle stages of the run home. Trainer/driver J Curtin advised that the gelding will now have a brief freshen up before resuming.
ROCKAHULA JOE - raced keenly in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance, driver S Ottley stated that she did not receive the opportunity to improve until the final 600 metres and at this stage the pace increased appreciably and she was unable to make ground on the leaders.
STATELY - over-raced in the score up and in the early and middle stages.

The start was delayed due to the gear on SHEZACULLENGIRL requiring attention.
SANS LE SOU - driver R Alfeld admitted a breach of Rule 869(5) in that he half carted between the 1200 metres and 800 metres. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $200. Mr Alfeld also admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and was fined $200 by the JCA.
SELENA FRANCO - paced roughly when leading in the middle stages.
SHEZACULLENGIRL - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.

SWEENEY TODD - driver B Zampese admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After viewing the films and submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
FLAMBOYANT - held up middle stages of the home straight.
DEN'S LEGACY - paced roughly in the home straight.
SI SI SENOR - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
JACK PACK - broke at the start.
GOTTA FUTURE - raced wide early stages.
PAUL'S VERDICT - broke at the start.
TINKER TAILOR - when questioned regarding the performance, driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than some sensitivity in the hock region.
PRADAS IDEAL DAHLING - the required veterinary clearance was received.
BOOMER BAILEY - raced wide early stages.
 
Race 7MORGAN FENCING HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
FLYINOVA - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
MADELEINE STOWE - broke near the 300 metres. Driver P Davis reported the mare had struck herself and he would be recommending gear changes.
BORNTOBEASTAR - raced wide early stages. Raced keenly through the middle stages.
RED HOT POKER - when questioned regarding the gelding's effort, driver J Dunn explained the horse had travelled lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was showing signs of gastric ulcers and was treated accordingly by the on course Veterinarian.
TROUBLE GIERO - raced keenly final bend.
 
Race 8ASHBURTON U-HIRE MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
GUNA - paced roughly in the early stages.
HES FAST AND FURIOUS - raced wide from the 1200 metres. Paced roughly near the 150 metres.
IT'S A DEAL - raced wide early stages. Driver R Cameron was warned for the manner he drove near the 350 metres when attempting to improve his position when insufficient room existed resulting in him becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of EJA PATRON.
EJA PATRON - raced wide early stages.
THE GOLDEN BOY - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
MAGICAL MATTY - over-raced middle stages. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
TRAILER PARK GIRL - over-raced middle stages. Held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight. Driver D Dunn was questioned regarding the reason he elected to shift to the marker line with 1900 metres to run. He stated that his mare is best suited to being driven with a sit in the grade of today's race and felt that by staying in the one out line he would have been pushed back later in the race as a number of runners had improved in the early stages. After reviewing the videos and considering his comments, Stewards were satisfied Mr Dunn's explanation was reasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
