Driver B Butt was issued with a warning for the manner in which he shifted ground at the 1400 metres when driving PRESTONPANS.
Race 5 - DARREN DEFILIPPI MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
Co-Trainer J Cox advised Stewards on 12 July that the lung wash performed on BEG HALL revealed no abnormalities with the gelding recovering well after being treated for a blood infection.

Trainer S McRae advised Stewards on 12 July that since racing at Rangiora last week BALRAJ has been gelded and sent for a spell.

CANTWELLS GOLD - broke shortly after the start. Hampered near the 300 metres by a breaking runner.
NANELLE FRANCO - lay inwards throughout the home straight.
NUCLEUS VC - hung inwards leaving the final bend.
MAJOR COO - checked after 200 metres. Driver T Williams reported he elected not to activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SHERRY BABY - fractious behind the barrier. Broke after 200 metres checking trailing runners. Again broke near the 1700 metres having to be restrained. While in a break the filly slipped her over check. Again broke on the bend near the 300 metres. Stood down to trial on one occasion prior to resuming.
PRESTONPANS - broke at the start. Checked after 200 metres. The all clear was delayed until it was confirmed the gelding did not gallop excessively in the early stages.
DON'T TELL ANGE - broke shortly after the start. Checked after 200 metres.

MIKEY MAGUIRE - hung outwards under pressure leaving the final bend and continued to lay outwards throughout the final straight.
BOOMER BAILEY - raced roughly in the early stages and had to be restrained.
FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY - Trainer M Kerr was warned for being late to arrive on course.
FRANCO TAI - Stable representative E Dickie was issued with a warning for being late to arrive on course.
MARSHAL STAR - weakened from the 600 metres and compounded over the final stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Cox advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination showed no significant abnormalities. A warning was placed on the horse's racing performance.

MARTIN JOHN - hung outwards leaving the final bend. Driver M Anderson reported the gelding had paced roughly during the running.
EVERY OPTION - Trainer R Dunn was charged a $25 colour fee. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
BRIDGET BLUE CHIP - raced wide in the early stages until being taken forward to race outside the leader near the 1300 metres.
NERVE OF STEEL - held up leaving the final bend.
MANINTHEMIRROR - weakened final bend.
MACHS MARETA - out of position at the start despite the driver's efforts. Had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - driver B Hope was issued with a warning for shifting outwards near the 1100 metres resulting in BLACK ART being briefly shifted wider on the track.
BLACK ART - briefly raced wider on the track near the 1100 metres.
The all clear was delayed due to a malfunction with the photo finish.

IDLE MOOSE - held up on the final bend. Driver B Orange was warned for the manner he drove near the 250 metres when shifting inwards and striking a pylon. Underwent a veterinary examination at the request of trainer R Austin following the race which revealed no abnormalities.
JAW D NANCY - broke at the start and shifted outwards checking trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
PEGGY NOVA - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the mare's performance, trainer/driver J Wheeler reported that the horse had travelled well throughout however had failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some back and muscle pain on the left side with the mare stood down pending a clearance.
TIJUANA TAXI - checked and broke in the early stages losing all chance.

ARCANO - held up final bend.
KINGSLAYER - when questioned regarding the performance, driver R May reported the gelding to have over-raced throughout and been under pressure after surrendering the front near the 800 metres. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the horse in the coming days.
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
WRANGLER - raced wide in the early stages. Held up in the early stages of the run home. Driver M Anderson was warned to exercise care when shifting ground in an abrupt manner near the 150 metres.
HIGHLAND REIGN - held up final bend. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
SAYING GRACE - broke soon after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Hung inwards in the home straight and became awkwardly placed behind CRUZY DUDE near the 50 metres. Driver B Hope was warned for failing to report that he did not activate the removable deafeners.
RUSSIAN EXPRESS - weakened on the final bend.
Co-Trainer G Hope advised Stewards on 19 July that KINGSLAYER has recovered well since its run at Addington last week where it over-raced and will continue with its current preparation. Mr Hope added that the gelding went to the workouts during the week and settled far better when driven back in the field.

JOEY MAGUIRE - driver M Hurrell was warned for striking pylons near the 300 metres.
MYBOYLOLLIEPOP - broke in the early stages. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
MORDECAI - broke racing past the 1650 metres losing ground. Stewards questioned driver B Butcher in the presence of D Dunn regarding this. After hearing from both drivers it was established that Mr Butcher had attempted to shift HIS ROYAL HARNESS down the track however had become awkwardly placed close to the sulky of BETTOR BACKIM after that runner was being restrained to obtain cover. After considering the matter, Mr Butcher was issued with a warning for attempting to shift ground when not in a position to do so.
CHIEF KAPAI - held up for clear racing room near the 50 metres. Driver L Whittaker, assisted by B Williamson, admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After viewing the films and submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.

PASTRANA - trotted roughly through the final straight. Broke over the final stages.
NATIVE ONEINAMILLION - broke in the early stages and lost its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. At the request of trainer M Perriton this horse will now be drawn unruly for standing start races.
THE COMMANDO - broke at the start and shifted outwards abruptly checking EXCITE. A warning was placed on the colt's barrier record. Lay outwards when leading causing the field to race wider than usual. Hung outwards on the final bend when held up for clear running causing driver B Butcher considerable difficulty. When questioned driver B Butcher advised the horse had proved uncontrollable. A post-race veterinary examination showed some sensitivity to the right hip and stifle with the colt stood down pending a Veterinary clearance. A warning was placed on the colt's racing record.
RAINING IN MY HEART - broke at the start.
LITTLE MISS - broke racing into the first bend. Again broke near the 1900 metres.
NOBLE MISTRESS - held up final bend.
MONRIKA - hampered in the early stages having to shift ground.
EXCITE - checked and broke at the start.

PLAYBOY PRINCE - awkwardly placed behind a tiring runner near the 300 metres and had to shift ground outwards.
THE BULL PEN - over-raced throughout when in the parked position. Weakened final bend.
BIG SMOKE - hung inwards in the score up. Again hung inwards and paced roughly on the first bend when racing keenly.
JAMES BUTT - raced keenly in the early stages.
MELINA LOWE - hung outwards in the score up and was back slightly at the start.

MISS PINOCCHIO - hung inwards near the 1500 metres when racing in the parked position. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend. Driver B Orange reported that the filly had been striking the sulky wheels. A post-race Veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities.
GALLEONS CONNOISSEUR - weakened final bend.
RUNNING ON EMPTY - held up final bend by a tiring runner.
DONEGAL DAVY BOYD - weakened from the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver D Dunn advised he was very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination showed the horse to have a poor recovery. Trainer C Dalgety reported he would re-assess the horse's racing future in the coming days.
TRACKSAREFORTRAINS - held up leaving the final bend.
