Race Comments | |
Race 1 | BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TAB'S & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video |
JOEY MAGUIRE - hung inwards final bend. Stewards questioned driver W Low regarding his decision to shift from the trail to the one one near the 700 metres. Mr Low explained that he had been instructed to lead and felt that RAINY RIVER which he had been trailing was under pressure and was concerned that he would be held up for clear running. After viewing the replays Mr Low conceded that he had erred in his decision and that in hindsight he would have been better served to remain in the trail. After taking into account his explanation, Stewards issued Mr Low with a caution for his lack of judgement.
ROYAL JESTER - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
RALPH ELLIOTT - hung inwards final bend. Driver M Maynard reported the gelding had over-raced and been striking his sulky wheels. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1300 metres when RAINY RIVER raced in a four wide position for a brief period. After viewing the replays it was established that RALPH ELLIOTT had shifted wider on the track prior to RAINY RIVER reaching its sulky wheel. Accordingly no further action was deemed necessary.

After viewing all available films, Stewards accepted Miss Ottley's explanation however she was advised that she must not drive in a manner that leaves herself open to query.
