Race 2SMITH & PARTNERS LAWYERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
CARLAW PARK - raced without cover after unsuccessfully contesting for the lead racing down the back straight on the first occasion.
WITH THE BAND - lay in during the score up and over the early stages before being improved to lead passing the 1800 metres. Continued to hang on the bends before compounding from the 500 metres to finish at the rear. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the filly was suffering from tie up which required treatment by the Veterinarian.
HUNTER BROMAC - inconvenienced near the 500 metres by a tiring runner.
SPIRIT OF LOVE - paced roughly near the 1250 metres and was taken up the track to clear trailing runners before being restrained back to the rear. Continued to pace roughly and in particular in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Driver S Abernethy advised that the mare had become worked up after requiring the services of the farrier prior to the event and then breaking its over-check during the preliminary, which required attention, and had raced unkindly throughout.
LAGERTHA -inconvenienced near the 500 metres by a tiring runner. Held up early final turn. Broke passing the 100 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on this filly's racing manners.

Race 6SMITH & PARTNERS 2018 WINTER CUP HANDICAP PACEVideo  Video
There was an eight minute delay to the start due to JUICE BROGDEN requiring attention from the farrier after springing a shoe during the preliminary.
IDEAL ROMAN - broke at the start and settled at the rear.
BET OUT OF ELL - slow to settle after the start.
CLASSIE BRIGADE - raced three wide from the 1100 metres and was under pressure on the final turn before weakening to finish at the rear. Driver N Purdon advised that racing wide on the fast tempo, after starting from a 25 metre handicap, had taken its toll.

Race 7McLAREN GUISE ACCOUNTANTS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
GLENN FORD - held up early final turn and then had some difficulty obtaining clear running throughout the run home. Driver P Ferguson was questioned as to his reason for failing to take the opportunity to shift out from three back on the marker line on to the back of IN THE SHADOWS passing the 300 metres. Mr Ferguson explained that he had elected to remain on the markers as he felt that IN THE SHADOWS had been under pressure with EYESDOWN AND LOOKING attempting to shift out off that runner's back. Mr Ferguson further stated that he felt it was the better option to look to follow NAHOLO (favourite) down into the passing lane as he expected the final quarter to be run at a fast tempo and that he may have had difficulty making ground attempting to shift wide.
EYESDOWN AND LOOKING - Driver S Lawson advised that he had been unable to activate the deafeners due to the mare laying in early in the run home when he was attempting to improve to the outside of IN THE SHADOWS.
GIMMEGOLD - weakened final stages.

Race 8ROSEBANK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
THREE PLY - showed gate speed from barrier one to lead but was pressured over the early stages and racing down the back on the first occasion. Weakened in the run home to finish in 5th place beaten 16.2 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Junior Driver B Butcher stated that he had been instructed by connections to look to hold the lead from the inside draw given the makeup of the field but that the early pressure, despite being able to back off the tempo through the middle stages, had taken its toll.
BIT OF A TIGER - raced greenly in the score up and was back from position at despatch.
ARTCHIEVER CHAPEL - three wide early then raced outside the leader until receiving cover approaching the 900 metres. Weakened from inside the final 600 metres to finish at the rear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance and the tactics adopted Driver P Ferguson stated that ARTCHIEVER CHAPEL had proved difficult in its two previous race starts and that he had been required to work early to obtain the position outside the leader. Mr Ferguson further stated that the filly raced aggressively taking time to settle when on terms with the leader which resulted in the fast lead time. He also added that he had looked to see if a position was available on the marker line but had been obliged to race without cover until BIT OF A TIGER improved around near the 900 metres. A warning was placed against the filly's racing performance.

Race 9NORTH WEST FINANCIAL HUB & RUTHERFORD REDE MOBILE TROTVideo  Video
BEAT THE HEAT - Driver P Ferguson reported that he had been unable to activate the deafeners due to the release cord becoming entangled.
CAROLINE WOZNIACKI - broke shortly after the start and settled towards the rear.
AWHI MAI - over-raced middle stages when midfield on the markers. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T Mitchell confirmed that the filly had over-raced and that it was the connections' intention to turn AWHI MAI out for a spell.
COMEDY ACT - back from position over latter stages of the score up.
BROOKS BELLE - broke approaching the 600 metres losing all chance.
SAVITSKAYA - raced four wide from the 700 metres.
