Race 2 - TIM TRATHEN / RODGER AUSTIN FARRIERS TROT
NOBLE MISTRESS - when questioned regarding the manner he drove in the middle stages when making a sustained and eventually unsuccessful attempt for the front driver M Anderson explained that at the time prior to him improving towards the front the pace of the race had eased noticeably. He said that his runner performed best when the sectionals were even throughout as his was a mare who lacked speed. He added that it appeared the lead position was there for him but when he had gone half a length clear of of TAIMATE ANGUS that runner then improved and re-assumed the lead leaving him uncovered for the remainder. After considering his explanation Stewards determined his tactics to be reasonable and took the matter no further.
Race 9 - TOMMY BEHRNS HANDICAP TROT
KAI TIME - when questioned regarding the manner in which he handled his horse through the middle stages in allowing his horse to establish a considerable lead over the field M Anderson explained that he had noticed several other runners, who he viewed as key rivals, miss away and intended to make them work hard to catch the field. The horse then proved difficult for him by racing keenly and then began to trot roughly meaning he was not able to restrain as much as he would have preferred. Stewards accepted his comments.
