SPUR ME ON GENTLY - broke shortly after the start. Trainer T Robertson advised it was his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
MATAI JETSTAR - lay inwards through the early and stages and broke near the 1700 metres, broke again near the 1000 metres and again near the 200 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
PEGASUS SUNRISE - trotted roughly rounding the final bend when under pressure.
NOBLE GAMBLE - slow through the early stages.
NOTTINGHAM K TWO - slow through the early stages.
TOPNOTCH EAGLE - broke negotiating the first bend.

LYNETTE THE VET - weakened rounding the final bend after racing in the parked position throughout.
TROUBLE GIERO - driver B Orange reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to this gelding due to having the field covered.

BE HOLME BY THREE - Lost for early speed. Held up for the majority of the run home. Trainer N Williamson advised he would be adding blinds to the gelding's gear prior to its next start.
DISMARA - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
RAKAGEM - weakened on the final bend.
BUSH MAN - over-raced through the early stages when being restrained.
IVANA LEGACY - held up in the early stages of the run home.

AMERICAN MAC - broke in the score-up checking second line runners necessitating a false start be declared. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Driver A Beck elected to remain in his allotted position for the re-start. Paced roughly in the early stages.
TACT MIESHA - broke negotiating the first bend checking trailing runners. Broke again passing the 350 metres. A final warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
LINC N ELLE - Connections requested a post-race veterinary examination after the filly showed signs of distress on return to the stabling area. The subsequent examination revealed the filly to have a high respiratory rate and a poor recovery. Connections advised blood tests will be conducted in the coming days which Stewards will follow up with trainer B Gray.
THE NAENAE EXPRESS - checked when negotiating the first bend.
MISS V C - checked and broke when negotiating the first bend.
RANGA ROC - refused to circle with the field for the re-start requiring the assistance of the clerk of the course. Checked when negotiating the first bend. Over-raced in the middle stages.

RITEUR - weakened on the final bend. Driver M Williamson advised the mare would now be sent for a spell.
AMBRO AMEIGO - broke for some distance after 150 metres losing ground. Authorisation of third placing being awarded to this gelding was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break through this stage of the race.
ROBBIE ROYALE - weakened from the 600 metres.
GLENDHU GEM - broke rounding the first bend near the 1800 metres.
STILL EYRE - forced wider on the track just prior to the 1000 metres when racing to the outside of WHATASISTA. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays it was established that WHATASISTA had commenced its outwards movement prior to STILL EYRE reaching its sulky wheel and no further action was required. Shifted up the track near the 800 metres and broke shortly afterwards. Lay out on the bend passing the 900 metres and broke losing its chance.
WHATASISTA - hung outwards when racing round the bends. Broke briefly near the 1000 metres when improving outwards.

KAGEE VC - raced wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner on the final bend.
BOLD RULER - Driver K Larsen was cautioned to ensure his whip remains inside the confines of the sulky in future.
PORT HANOVER - held up rounding the final bend. Struck the inside sulky wheel of EL DINERO near the 300 metres, breaking briefly in consequence and causing an inconvenience to KAGEE VC. Driver D Reardon admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) and after viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a suspension of Mr Reardon's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the 21st June 2018 (4 days.)
 
Race 7TERRY DIXON MEMORIAL MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
CAST A SHADOW - broke when striking the inside wheel of TRIPLE VC when attempting a marginal run to the inside of that runner just prior to the passing lane. Driver M Williamson defended a charge pursuant to Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when attempting a marginal run to the inside of TRIPLE VC causing his runner to strike a sulky wheel and break in consequence. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from the Stewards and Mr Williamson the JCA found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $350.00.
THE DOORMAN - commenced to weaken from the 600 metres after racing in the parked position. Trainer/driver B Williamson advised that although the gelding had a hard run today he was slightly disappointed with the performance A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left fore foot with Mr Williamson advising he would send the gelding for a spell.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - back off the gate at the dispatch despite the efforts of junior driver S Tomlinson. Awkwardly placed behind a tiring runner near the 450 metres. Broke shortly afterwards losing its chance.
 
Race 8SOUTH PORT NZ LTD BLUFF CUP MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
JAMES BUTT - When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver K Larsen advised although the gelding was unsuited by the sit/sprint nature of the race he was still somewhat disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering mild dehydration and a below average recovery rate. Mr Larsen advised he would have the gelding undergo a further veterinary examination in the coming days which Stewards will follow up.
SPORTZSTAR - locked wheels in the score-up and as a result was out of position at the Candy Pole and slightly out of position at the dispatch.
OSSESSIONE - held up on the final bend.
SAGWITCH - over-raced in the middle stages.
PASS THE SPEIGHTS - raced wide when improving to the outside of YOUNG CONQUEROR nearing the 1300 metres. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays it was established that YOUNG CONQUEROR had commenced its outwards movement prior to PASS THE SPEIGHTS reaching its sulky wheel with no further action required.
THE MANIPULATOR - raced keenly in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver N Williamson reported the gelding had benefited from an economical trip today.

CARLO GAMBINO - was inclined to lay inwards throughout the run home.
THE BULL PEN - weakened from the 400 metres after racing in the parked position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormalities.
IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY - held up by a tiring runner on the final bend.
GOTTA GOOD LOOKER - held up on the final bend. Junior driver K McNaught was spoken to advisedly for the manner in which he shifted ground when improving outwards entering the home straight.
