Race 8ALWAYS B MIKI 2018 NI HARNESS AWARDS SEPT 1 MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
STAND BY ME - declared a non-runner under Rule 213(1)(j) as the gelding had been interfered with in the score up prior to the start and a false start should have been declared. The Stewards deemed that STAND BY ME's chances had been materially affected. It was established that the mobile arm had protruded over the marker line late in the score up resulting in THE BIG CHEESE being tightened for room between the marker line and STAND BY ME which resulted in the wheel of its sulky contacting the hind leg of STAND BY ME causing it to gallop. The driver of the mobile Mr B Hepburn was shown the video coverage of the incident as was the Starter Mr F Phelan. Mr Mangos had called to the starter late in the score up, however, failed to draw his attention. Stewards advised the Starter that he should err on the side of caution and declare a false start given similar circumstances in the future.
SIMON - held up early and late in the run home and as a result Junior Driver J MacKinnon did not activate the removable deafeners.
