XTRA TIME - broke passing the 600 metres and settled at the rear. Broke again passing the 200 metres.
ABOVE THE REST - slow away. Lay in and trotted unevenly over the initial stages.
DAUNTLESS - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
BET'S COMMANDO - trotted unevenly when in the lead passing the 400 metres. Broke passing the 300 metres for a short distance. The authorisation of the 4th placing was withheld by Stewards until such time as it was confirmed that the mare lost ground in its break at the 300 metres.

UNCLE DREW - badly checked by a galloping runner approaching the 700 metres.
MISTER MIGHTY - broke approaching the 700 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
KEEP ON ROCKIN - lay in for the majority of the race. Badly checked by a galloping runner approaching the 700 metres and broke losing ground. Driver B Butcher advised that the horse gave him a difficult drive and that the connections will be making corrective gear changes.
LAST TOUCH - inclined to lay out during the running. Weakened inside the final 600 metres.

MILLIONDOLLARMONKEY - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's standing start manners.
DANKE - an information was lodged alleging Driver G Martin was in breach of the Push Out Rule passing the 1200 metres when he improved DANKE outward forcing WHATABOYZ to race wider on the track. Driver Z Butcher then shifted WHATABOYZ back in from three wide to two wide with DANKE returning to a position on the marker line. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $200.00.
DREAM BIG - late scratching at 1.25 pm on veterinary advice.
WHATABOYZ - forced to race three wide passing the 1200 metres before Driver Z Butcher shifted back into a position two wide.

RUSSIAN ALSU - paced roughly approaching the 1250 metres inconveniencing a trailing runner. Weakened final turn.
JACK BATES - badly held up by a tiring runner inside the 400 metres.
GARRY'S LEGACY - worked forward to lead near the 1750 metres but was run down into 3rd place beaten 5 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver B Orange stated that the gelding had been required to work too hard during the middle stages.
ARCANO - inconvenienced due to an easing of the pace passing the 1250 metres. Held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
AMERICAN LEGEND - stopped quickly inside the 400 metres inconveniencing a trailing runner. A post race veterinary examination revealed an elevated and irregular heart rate which returned to normal. Driver J Abernethy advised that he believed the filly may have choked down. A warning was placed on the filly's race performance record.
THE HAWKE - back three lengths from the unruly position throughout the score-up and at the start. Over-raced early and middle stages.

CONTRACTUAL ISSUES - held up rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
REDMARO - raced three wide from the 1500 metres.
ONHIGHTOGETHER - held up rounding the final bend and the early and middle stages of the run home.
LYNTON CREEK - caught three wide early before receiving cover toward the rear. Improved three wide again mid-race to sit outside the leader.
PORT DELIGHT - raced three wide from the 1500 metres. Driver B Orange reported that he did not activate the deafeners.

AMARO - held up over the early and middle stages of the run home. Paced roughly when placed in restricted room inside the weakening MRS ZIPPY passing the 50 metres.
CERBERUS - broke racing into the first bend inconveniencing trailing runners but settled quickly before being restrained back towards the rear. Held up early and middle stages of the run home until receiving clear racing room inside the final 50 metres.
MRS ZIPPY - inconvenienced by a galloping runner racing around the first bend. Raced three wide early.
SPORTSCASTER - inconvenienced by a galloping runner racing around the first bend.
DELIA MAY - raced three wide early.
ITSOKBEINGBETTER - forced three wide passing the 800 metres and then four wide down the back straight.

MASTER OF ESCAPE - badly held up passing the 400 metres by two runners which had locked sulky wheels.
JETENARA - lay in and locked sulky wheels with the tiring DYNAMO passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
DYNAMO - raced three wide early until being improved to race outside the leader. Paced roughly passing the 1200 metres. Stopped quickly approaching the 400 metres locking sulky wheels with JETENARA badly impeding trailing runners.
RANGI RANGDU - placed in restricted room racing into the first bend when racing to the inside of CARRERA SKY and MASTER OF ESCAPE.

DELIGHTFUL KAS - Trainer S Doody was fined $100.00 for presenting the filly without the notified blinds.
DRUM WITHERS - held up rounding the final bend and early stages of the run home.
EXTRA GUINNESS - raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
SAUCHIEHALL - lay out under pressure in the run home.
MOLLY SIMS - raced three wide from inside the 1400 metres and without cover from the 1100 metres. Weakened inside the final 500 metres inconveniencing trailing runners. A post race veterinary examination revealed a suspected atrial fibrillation with the mare being stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
FOUR STARZZZ LEGEND - raced three wide from the 1000 metres. Inconvenienced by a tiring runner when racing three wide inside the 500 metres, before switching to the inside but failed to run on.

WYNBERG JEWEL - over-raced in the lead over the early and middle stages.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - in the second attempt to start this race a false start was declared when the gelding broke in the score up and shifted outward checking NICE TO BE NORVIC. Driver P Ferguson elected to maintain his original barrier position for the third attempt to start the race. Taking into consideration the previous false start Stewards placed a final warning on the mobile barrier manners of the gelding. Mr Ferguson is to be questioned in relation to the manner in which he drove in the second false start.
NICE TO BE NORVIC - when a start was declared at the third attempt NICE TO BE NORVIC broke losing ground and again on two occasions during the running before being retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. The mare was declared unruly for mobile starts at the Trainer's request.
NUI MAY TAU - a false start was declared after the gelding raced fiercely in the score up with Driver B Orange taking it to the outside of the second line before pulling its way forward of the mobile gate. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of NUI MAY TAU. At the second attempt to start the race the gelding again became uncontrollably fierce and was subsequently late scratched by the Stewards at 5.19 pm under Rule 213(1)(a after being deemed to be in an unfit state to start. Trainer M House advised that he would be making corrective gear changes for the second night. The gelding was placed on the unruly for future mobiles at Mr House's request.
ORLANDO STAR - restrained early before trailing on the outer. Under pressure final turn before being placed in restricted room when TOPPATHEROCK shifted outwards and failed to run on finishing in 7th place beaten 7.4 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver J Curtin could offer no explanation and stated that he was disappointed with the run.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - Driver P Ferguson was charged under Rule 857(7)(f) in that he steered his gelding up the track when in a gallop in the early stages of the score-up and interfered with NICE TO BE NORVIC (K Marshall) which resulted in a false start being declared. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays, the JCA upheld the charge. After hearing submissions as to penalty the JCA reserved their decision.
The JCA released their decision on 25 May with Mr Ferguson's Horseman's licence being suspended from the conclusion of racing at tonight's meeting upto and including 7 June 2018 (3 days).
The connections advised that NUI MAY TAU had trialled well the day following this event and the gelding had been given mobile barrier practice on two separate occasions prior to its engagement tonight.
 
Race 10SEASON FINALE THURSDAY MAY 24TH MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
LINTON SHARD - broke at the start losing considerable ground and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
MARSHAL STAR - weakened out inside the final 400 metres finishing well back. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
