RICHARD LE FORT - tended to over-race middle stages when outside the leader. Junior Driver S Iremonger was cautioned in regard to his lack of control near the 600 metres when he allowed the gelding to shift ground when tiring after activating the removable deafeners which resulted in it contacting the wheel of the sulky of DOUBLE O HEAVEN. As a result his gelding paced roughly which inconvenienced trailing runners. | |
HUNTER BROMAC - paced roughly when being restrained to find a position racing into the first bend and broke losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record. | |
QUICK AS FIRE -shifted three wide inside the 1000 metres and raced four wide down the back straight. | |

FLYING TAINE - compounded inside the final 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than a slow recovery. Junior Driver D Ferguson advised that the entire threw a shoe passing the 500 metres. | |
LOVELY BUNDY - broke at the start. Checked and broke approaching the 900 metres losing all chance. | |
PUMA ROAD - broke passing the 950 metres when in tight quarters to the inside of SUNDEES SON. | |
ALTA VENETIA - over-raced middle stages when racing outside the leader. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner passing the 950 metres. | |

SUNDEES SON - broke passing the 250 metres losing its chance. An Information was lodged alleging that Driver G Smith allowed his gelding to shift inwards near the 950 metres which resulted in contact to PUMA ROAD (S Reid) causing that gelding to break with resultant interference to trailing runners. The JCA upheld the charge and after hearing submissions on penalty suspended Driver G Smith's horseman's licence from the end of racing on the 18th May 2018 up to and including 27th May 2018. | |

LYNBAR ROSE - contacted and dislodged a track marker racing into the first bend when racing to the inside of KIWI TINTIN. The authorisation of the mare's fourth placing was withheld until such time that Stewards reviewed the video coverage of the run home to establish that LYNBAR ROSE did not gain an advantage when to the inside of the 5th placed KIWI TINTIN and briefly travelling over the marker line at about the 75 metre mark. | |
CLASSIE AMERICAN - the authorisation of the payment of the gelding's third placing was withheld until Stewards reviewed the video coverage of the run home in order to establish that the chances of KIWI TINTIN and LYNBAR ROSE were not impeded when CLASSIE AMERICAN marginally shifted in at the entrance to the passing lane. | |
TRIPLE EIGHT - trapped four deep on the inside until being eased back and out passing the 800 metres, lost contact with the field racing down the back the last time and ran on when balanced finishing 7th, 2.5 lengths in arrears of the winner. Driver D. Butcher explained that the field sprinted hard racing down the back straight the last time and when he asked the gelding to quicken it paced roughly and briefly lost contact with the field. | |

WESTBURN BLISS - raced three wide early before improving to race outside the leader at the 1100 metres. Weakened inside the final 400 metres. | |

MADAM SECRETARY - briefly locked sulky wheels when easing out to the inside of LIKE A WILDFIRE approaching the 800 metres. | |
LIKE A WILDFIRE - lay in when attempting to improve three wide passing the 800 metres, locked sulky wheels with MADAM SECRETARY before being shifted wider on the track by Driver T Mitchell as the near side sulky wheel tyre had come off the wheel rim and the gelding was pulled up at the 700 metres. Driver T Mitchell advised that the sulky tyre deflated of its own accord inside the 1000 metres. | |

SERTORIUS broke approaching the 2400 metres when in a forward position in the field and galloped back through the trailing runners resulting in WAR MACHINE shying away from the galloping runner and shifting ground inward abruptly with C K SPUR to its inside locking sulky wheels with REALMEIN dislodging Driver A Herlihy from the sulky of C K SPUR with this runner falling to the track. For safety reasons warning devices were activated in an attempt to stop the race as the field passed the 1600 metres with the Clerk of the Course directing the field around the fallen runner. Warning devices were again activated at the 1000 metres and the Stewards called the race off under Rule 211A(1) for safety reasons. The race was abandoned by the Stipendiary Stewards. Driver A Herlihy was taken to hospital for observation with suspected rib injuries. A medical certificate of fitness will be required before Mr Herlihy resumes driving. A post-race veterinary inspection of C K SPUR revealed the gelding to have suffered lacerations. | |
