Pre-race blood testing was carried out.
The track was downgraded to slushy prior to Race 2 and Trainers were instructed to fit mudguards to sulkies.

Race 2 - MAGNESS BENROW NZ SIRES STAKES 2YO FILLIES (HEAT 4) MOB PACE
Trainer R Dunn advised Stewards on 11 April that blood tests taken from GARTA following her disappointing performance at Auckland last Friday revealed that the filly was still suffering from the effects of a virus. Mr Dunn added that GARTA has been treated this week and should be fit to race in the Caduceus Classic later in the month.

The connections of PARAMOUNT KING advised Stewards on 13 April that the gelding contracted a bug when in Christchurch last week with this contributing to its poor performance at Addington. They added that PARAMOUNT KING has now recovered and is back in work.

SHOW OF FAITH - tended to shift out under pressure in the run home.
TOBRUK - hampered near the 500 metres. Held up early final turn.
HERE WE ARE - lay in near the 500 metres losing several lengths.
JANSSON - over-raced middle stages when trailing the leader.
SAFRAKOVA - caused a delay to the start after breaking through the barrier strand. Broke racing into the first bend before breaking again passing the 1800 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the filly's standing start barrier manners.
MACKERELLI - slow away. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner entering the first turn.
LITTLEBITOFLOVE - slow away. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner entering the first turn.

LERATO - contacted and dislodged a marker peg passing the 250 metres when racing in restricted room to the inside of ULTIMATE ANGEL. When questioned regarding this incident Junior Driver N Purdon explained that he had attempted to improve to the inside of ULTIMATE ANGEL approaching the 250 metres after that runner had commenced to shift outwards, however Junior Driver T Lethaby had then corrected ULTIMATE ANGEL which resulted in LERATO being placed in restricted room briefly. Given the circumstances, no further action was deemed necessary.
CHRISTIAN WHO - shifted out and had to be corrected approaching the 250 metres.
THE LONE RANGER - inconvenienced near the 1300 metres. Broke near the 1000 metres losing ground before settling at the rear. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners.
POPPY DRAYTON - caught three wide early. Raced three wide with cover from the 1100 metres.
DESTINED FOR HEAVEN - raced three wide with cover from the 1250 metres.
GUPTA'S CULLEN - raced three wide without cover from the 1300 metres. Lay in near the 900 metres. Junior Driver J MacKinnon was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which he shifted ground near the 1300 metres which resulted in THE LONE RANGER, which was improving forward quickly, being briefly inconvenienced.
TYRON BETTOR'S ELLA - tired final stages. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer R Dunn advised that he had had blood tests taken after a virus had affected his stable, which had come back clear with the mare having worked well leading into tonight's event. Mr Dunn further stated that he was disappointed with the performance and would have further blood tests taken and undertook to advise Stewards should anything untoward surface.

LUNDQVIST - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
MON ARCHIE WAY - checked by a galloping runner approaching the 500 metres and then broke passing the 350 metres.
ASH - slow early and then inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Raced at the rear and failed to make up any ground over the final stages to finish in 7th place beaten 12.5 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver M. McKendry stated that the gelding had raced greenly in what was its first race right handed and under lights.
TORBJORN - trotted unevenly down the back straight the last time before breaking approaching the 500 metres checking a trailing runner. Continued to trot roughly throughout the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
OUR PETITE LADY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
JOMO - raced three wide early before unsuccessfully contesting for the lead.
MAGNAFIQUE - Junior Driver T. Cameron advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners.
BILLY AT SALSA - broke at the start losing ground before settling. Had to shift up the track to obtain clear running late in the run home.

WESTBURN BLISS - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the run home.
EYESDOWN AND LOOKING - Driver A Poutama was cautioned for contacting and dislodging a marker peg near the 250 metres.
WHATCHAGOT - broke in the score up and was five lengths out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners. Checked approaching the 1800 metres. Caught the field at the 1100 metres and weakened out inside the final 500 metres.
COWBOYS N INDIANS - raced three wide early. Over-raced middle stages when outside the leader.
DOUBLE O HEAVEN - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners. Checked approaching the 1800 metres before galloping shortly after losing several lengths. Caught the field approaching the 1100 metres.
THE CHESDALE KID - lost contact with the main body of the field over the early stages. Paced roughly approaching the 1800 metres checking trailing runners. Tired over the final stages.

THE HULK - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
MONSEIGNEUR - broke at the start losing ground. Tired final stages.
ALTA VENETIA - held up early final turn.
MASSIVE METRO - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
IL PIRATA - checked by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
TERESKOVA - inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start and broke.
C K SPUR - raced at the rear from its 30 metre handicap. Raced three then four wide from the 600 metres. Forced wider on the home turn and battled on to finish in 7th place, beaten 6.7 lengths. Co-Trainer/Driver J Dickie advised he was disappointed with the run and that when he improved down the back straight the last time the gelding didn't feel comfortable in its action. Mr Dickie further stated that it was the stable's intention to carry out chiropractic checks as it has done in the past and would report anything that was amiss.

RAIN MAN - attempted to find the lead early and then raced outside the leader before weakening inside the 200 metres to finish 7th beaten 6.6 lengths. A post-race veterinary examination, including an endoscopic procedure at the request of trainer S Reid, revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with Mr Reid in relation to the performance in coming days.
IVANA FLYBYE - failed to get clear racing room throughout the run home.
GOLD ORCHID - momentarily placed in restricted room passing the 150 metres when racing between BETTOR STEP ASIDE and the weakening RAIN MAN.

BORDEAUX - Trainer P Iggo advised Stewards, as a precaution given the prevailing slushy conditions tonight, that in similar conditions at Addington the gelding had performed below expectations. This information was passed on to Trackside.
MAJESTIC ONE - trotted roughly early and broke approaching the 1200 metres and cast the off fore shoe. Broke again passing the 900 metres losing all chance.
SHADY SADIE - inconvenienced by a breaking runner passing the 1200 metres. Broke approaching the 400 metres losing its chance.

SEA OF GOLD - inconvenienced when there was an easing of the pace passing the 400 metres.
BOPPER JET - inconvenienced passing the 400 metres losing two lengths.
SUMMER WEALTH - lost a boot from its near fore passing the 2000 metres. Raced three wide in the middle stages before improving forward to race outside the leader then weakened over the latter stages.
SOME CHANGE - caught three wide early before improving to race outside the leader. Skied its head passing the 400 metres and paced roughly losing two lengths and inconveniencing a trailing runner.
REVOLVER - a length out of position at the start. Driver A. Herlihy was cautioned in relation to failing to be in position at the start.
SUZIE PEE JAY - held up rounding the final bend.

ARDENT LUSTRE - lay in approaching the passing lane early in the run home. When questioned Junior driver B Butcher advised that the gelding had not been travelling well enough to attempt to utilise the passing lane.
QUEEN LOSTRIS - broke briefly at the start.
DELIGHTFUL ZEN - slow to begin.
FLEETING GRIN - inclined to lay in on the bends.
MAJOR CLASSIC - slow to begin.

INVICTUS - back from position at despatch. Broke passing the 1300 metres losing its chance.
KRATOS - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
VATICAN HILL - back from position at despatch.
SHE REIGNS - shifted out late in the run home and then broke passing the 20 metres and was lapped on by the second placed SPLITTING IMAGE. Relegated to second placing under Rule 870(5).
