NUCLEUS VC - paced roughly early stages. Driver L Lester was questioned regarding the manner in which she drove the gelding approaching the first bend when FLETCH which was racing wide was able to shift inwards and take up the position in the two wide line ahead of her. Miss Lester demonstrated the horse had raced roughly in the early stages and she had steadied it for this reason. She added that approaching the crossing the horse had hung and so she had again taken hold of the horse preventing her from taking up the room ahead of her. Miss Lester said the horse was difficult throughout the running and given her some difficulty. After reviewing the films Stewards accepted the explanation of Miss Lester. When questioned regarding the gelding's improved performance trainer C DeFilippi advised the horse had disappointed him in previous starts and so increased its workload which it had responded well to. | |
