| SPARE CHANGE - paced roughly after 200 metres. The off front hopple loop dropped near the 1500 metres after coming adrift from the carrier. Weakened over the final stages to finish at the rear. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer R Villiger ( P Coppins acting as agent ) was issued with a $100.00 minor infringement notice for failing to ensure the hopple loop was affixed so as not to come adrift. Driver T Mitchell advised that he had been reluctant to place the mare under pressure due to the gear malfunction. | |

| BLACK CHEVRON- raced 3 back on the outer, improved 4 wide from the 400 metres but was unable to make up much ground over the final stages to finish in 6th place beaten 4.9 lengths. Driver J Abernethy advised that the gelding had received every opportunity. | |
