Junior driver N Purdon admitted a breach of Rule 507(1) in that he broke a driving engagement to drive TITANIUM in Race 6. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $250.

Trainer P Burrows advised Stewards on 22 February that following its disappointing performance at Addington on 16 February FRIEND has been sent for a spell.

Race 4 - ROSE DAKIN LOVES HARNESS RACING MOBILE PACE

Trainer M Kerr advised Stewards on 22 February that THE DORCHESTER has recovered well after its performance at Addington on 16 February where it showed a poor recovery rate. Mr Kerr added that the colt will return to trials before resuming.

Race 10 - BLUE STAR TAXIS - NEW APP AVAILABLE! HANDICAP PACE

Trainer K Cox advised Stewards on 20 February that blood tests taken from MAD LU LI subsequent to its disappointing performance at Addington on 16 February have revealed a respiratory infection. The mare has since been treated and sent for a short spell.

SEZANA - out of position at the start. Driver C Jones was warned to make a greater effort to maintain his barrier position until start point.

Race 2	CHRISTCHURCH CASINO MOBILE TROT Video

GALLEONS GLORY - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Placed in restricted room near the 900 metres. Hung inwards leaving the final bend. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
MR MAJESTIC - returned to the stable area with blood present in both nostrils. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the gelding had bled and in consequence the horse was stood down for the mandatory 90 days (2nd offence) under Rule 213(1)(i). The connections were advised a veterinary clearance including a scope and a satisfactory trial are required prior to resuming.
MICHELLE - hung inwards leaving the final bend and struck a pylon.
ROCKNPOP - broke after 150 metres when leading and was directed to the inside of track markers by driver S Tomlinson.
JEDI JOSH - raced wide through the early stages. Weakened from the 800 metres finishing a distance from the winner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
LARCH - raced wide early stages. A post-race veterinary examination was requested by the connections and revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery rate.
SPURRED BY SUCCESS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Curtin. Placed in restricted room near the 900 metres.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - driver M Edmonds was warned for the manner he shifted ground near the 900 metres when placing inside runners in restricted room.

VALOR LUSTRE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

Race 5	HYDROFLOW MOBILE TROT Video
dRv9y4Mgyxo RUTHLESS KAYLA - switched to a pace racing into the first bend and was restrained by driver S Ottley into its correct gait. Paced again near the 1000 metres losing its chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have suffered from an atrial fibrillation. Trainer K Fairbairn was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare resuming.
ANOTHER CHAPTER - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier record. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
HE'S LIKE THE WIND - broke nearing the 300 metres losing its chance. Trainer/driver G Smith advised that the horse would be retired from racing.
ALVIRA HEST - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier record. Authorisation of 5th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
SUNSET PEAK - hung inwards final bend and struck pylons.
JAW D NANCY - driver J Dunn advised he dropped his whip near the 200 metres.

Race 6	LAMB AND HAYWARD MOBILE PACE Video

PAUL'S VERDICT - hung inwards racing into the first bend placing inside runners in restricted room. Raced wide early stages.
TAKE AFTER ME - had to be steadied passing the 1550 metres after an easing of the pace.
LIVING GLORY - out of position at the candy pole and the start. Driver S Payne was warned to make a greater effort to be in position.
SUMMER WEALTH - broke nearing the 1550 metres . Stewards questioned driver A Fitzgerald (assisted by J Dunn) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions from both drivers, it was established that SUMMER WEALTH had broken after becoming awkwardly placed close to the wheel of TAKE AFTER ME simultaneous to an easing of the pace. Given the circumstances the matter was taken no further.
IDEAL RULE - held up early stages of the home straight.
THE DIRECTOR - placed in restricted room racing into the first bend. Raced wide early stages.
TITANIUM - raced wide early stages. Broke near the 200 metres after attempting to shift ground outwards before striking the wheel of GARRY'S LEGACY losing its chance. Junior driver S O'Reilly (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Miss O'Reilly's licence from the conclusion of racing on 2 March 2018 up to and including 11 March 2018 (4 days).
SPORTSCASTER - had to be steadied passing the 1550 metres after an easing of the pace.

-PPVlaW5xBk CHRISTMAS BABE - hung outwards in the score up and was back several lengths at the start. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier record. Hung outwards racing into the first bend and broke briefly. Hampered near the 600 metres.
DOFF YOUR CAP - broke as the start was effected. Broke again near the 250 metres for a considerable distance. Stewards lodged a protest against 5th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for breaking in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres. The connections did not contest the protest and DOFF YOUR CAP was disqualified by the JCA.
TOLKIEN - hampered near the 600 metres.
CARLTON - trotted roughly in the score up and was back slightly at the start. Trotted roughly and broke near the 600 metres hampering trailing runners. Stewards lodged a protest against the promoted 5th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for breaking in excess of 150 metres during the running. The connections did not contest the protest and CARLTON was disqualified by the JCA.

CELTIC THUNDER - trotted roughly in the score up and was slightly out of position at dispatch. Broke passing the 100 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
SUPERFAST MAGGIE - broke in the score up and failed to settle and was out of position by a distance at the start. Broke again after 100 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the filly.
MAJESTIC LAVROS - trotted roughly throughout the run home before breaking near the 50 metres.
TIJUANA TAXI - hung inwards late in the run home.
REBEL KIBBYBONES - broke in the score up and was back slightly from the unruly position. Broke again passing the 200 metres.

ILDIVO - held up rounding the final bend. Paced roughly near the 300 metres after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of CULLENS JOY. Driver J Cox was warned to exercise care when shifting ground.
