Race 2NZ SIRES STAKES/ROSSLANDS 3YO C & G GRADUATE (MOBILE PACE)Video  Video
SOLID GOLD - had to be steadied near the 1500 metres when MASTER MOONLITE shifted ground inwards.
ON THE CARDS - held up final turn and for the majority of the run home. Stewards questioned Driver Z. Butcher in relation to the decision he made passing the 250 metres to shift out off the leader's back rather than wait for the run to become available in the passing lane. Mr Butcher explained that LINCOLN ROAD had been placed under pressure by Driver A. Poutama and that he felt that that gelding may not carry him to the passing lane so he considered the better option to be to look for the run to the outside rather than risk losing momentum.
MASTER MOONLITE - worked forward approaching the 1700 metres to unsuccessfully contest for the lead but was then able to shift down to trail the leader near the 1500 metres, shifted out to race without cover passing the 1000 metres, led at the 200 metres before being run down into 5th place, beaten 2.2 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver D. Dunn stated he was satisfied with the run given the way the race panned out. Mr Dunn was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which he shifted ground down on to the leader's back near the 1500 metres which resulted in SOLID GOLD having to be restrained.

Race 3MR CHIPS TROT (STANDING START)Video  Video
SHOW OF FAITH - Trainers P and V Blanchard were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for presenting the mare with the incorrect saddle cloth. Lay out throughout the running. Driver P. Ferguson was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the early and middle stages of the run home. Mr Ferguson stated that he had been placed at a considerable disadvantage due to the mare wanting to shift up the track throughout the running and in particular on the final turn and early stages of the run home when under pressure. Mr Ferguson further explained that he had been reluctant to attempt to drive the mare out to any degree as it had its hind quarters over in the sulky and was contacting the near side wheel and may have either broken if placed under additional pressure or shifted ground outwards interfering with PHOEBE GEM on his outside. He also added that when challenged by FORGET THE PRICE TAG (winner) that his mare had been unable to quicken and had been doing its best.
SAFRAKOVA - broke at the start and shifted down inside several marker pegs. Hung inwards in the early stages and then raced greenly on a number of occasions. Broke near the 400 metres.
SUNNY PEGASUS - broke after 300 metres and was taken down inside the marker line to clear the trailing runners and then trailed the field.
