Race 3 - STAPLES RODWAY TAURANGA HANDICAP TROT

Driver R Paynter (IL PIRATA) admitted a charge under Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures over the final 150 metres to ensure that IL PIRATA (2nd placed) was given full opportunity to win the race. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Paynter's Horseman's Licence up to and including 8 June 2018 and imposed a fine of $350.00.

POPPY DRAYTON - inclined to lay in racing down the back straight and the final turn, when straightened by Amateur Driver S Phillips shifted wider on the track presenting a run for a horse on it's inner.
SCANRECO BAY - under pressure in the lead from inside the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Vince advised that he would get follow up blood tests and advise any abnormalities.

YyIrTOhYQiI IN MY SHADOW - paced roughly on the final turn and broke for a stride passing the 150 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
TURBO - Driver T Macfarlane advised that he was unable to activate the deafeners on the gelding due to the release cord coming adrift.
MEERA - weakened inside the final 400 metres.
JAMIE FRASER - weakened from inside the 600 metres.
WYNBERG JEWEL - over-raced in the score up. Lay in resisting Driver P Butcher in his attempt to shift the mare wider on the track over the early stages of the run home.

MANIHIKI PEARL - weakened rounding the final bend.
SEA OF GOLD - briefly locked stays racing into the first bend.
DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE - briefly locked stays racing into the first bend. Lay in contacting track markers passing the 1200 metres.

TAHLIA FRANCO - Junior Driver L Whittaker dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear passing the 150 metres.
M T POCKETS - Trainer T Vince was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding with removable deafeners that were not notified. This gear was removed prior to the start. The rein pricker was removed following its preliminary prior to the start. A further $100 Minor Infringement Notice was issued when a hopple side carrier came adrift during the running.

efd7LQf9a2Y OUTLANDER - broke in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. This gelding was placed on the Unruly for future mobiles.
INFORTHEFIGHT - broke shortly after the start when placed in restricted room and settled at the rear.
MONET LISA - lay inwards in score up and early stages placing an inside runner in restricted room. Continued to lay in throughout the running and in particular on the final turn and gave ground. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.

Race 6	MOTHERS DAY FUN RUN AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HANDICAP TROT Video
4IIEUm-mi0k SIR HENRY CASTLETON - broke for a few strides and was slow away.
SHAY SCOTT - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
ANSE VATA - broke in the lead passing the 350 metres with Driver B Mangos shifting the galloping runner inside the marker line for safety reasons. The gelding then settled back into a trot gaining an advantage before returning to the track proper outside the marker line near the 200 metres to finish in 3rd placing. A non-contested Protest under Rule 869(7B) was lodged and upheld by the JCA with the gelding being disqualified from the race.
FRANCO NADAL - broke at the start losing ground.
PARAMOUNT KING - broke approaching the first bend losing considerable ground.

Race 7	MIDFREW FARM PRESENTS LOTS 358, 374 479, 392 MOBILE PACE Video
CymAOJbfsrY ARDENT LUSTRE - Junior Driver S Quill admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) on the grounds that he used his whip excessively over the final 400 metres. The JCA suspended Mr Quill's Junior Horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 February up to and including 23 February 2018 (3 days).
CHRISTANNA - held up throughout the run home when unable to secure clear running.
IVANA FLYBYE - Trainer S Telfer was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after the front near side hopple loop came adrift during the running.

Race 8	DUNSTAN HORSEFEED HANDICAP TROT Video
_YZGbjpYDUE PEGGY SPUR - broke near the 1800 metres losing ground. Broke again at the 350 metres checking a trailing runner.
JUST ANYTHING - broke at the start and settled midfield.
CREDIT MASTER - broke rounding the first turn losing considerable ground. Checked near the 350 metres by a breaking runner. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until it was confirmed that the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
