Mr Dunn further explained that he was reluctant to improve wide in the final lap as the filly would have been forced over extra ground. He believed that it was in his best interests to attempt to obtain a run through the field however he was held up on the final bend, inconvenienced exiting the bend before being held up again early in the run home. Mr Williamson explained that he wanted to save the gelding for one run and he had expected WITHOUT DOUBT to give him a drag into the finish. After viewing the replays Mr Williamson conceded he had erred in his judgement on this occasion believing WITHOUT DOUBT was travelling better than it was at the time.
