KOTARE ELITE - broke after 150 metres when BELLE OF BROOKLYN (S Ottley) was attempting to ease the filly down the track. Paced roughly at various stages throughout the running with this worsening throughout the run home. Stewards spoke to drivers M Anderson and S Ottley in regards to this horse breaking shortly after the start and after hearing the evidence tendered by both drivers and viewing all available films it was established that the filly had broken due to its own racing manners and its resentment to the pole during this stage of the race. A warning was placed on its racing record. | |

AMARETTO SUN - began awkwardly. Trotted roughly after being eased wider on the track shortly after the 1000 metres. Driver S Tomlinson expressed disappointment with the geldings performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed muscle soreness over the back and lumber region with further assessment being recommended in the coming days to which Stewards will follow up on. | |

JIMMY CANNON - paced roughly near the 1200 metres losing ground. Broke when placed in restricted room to the inside of MAJOR TROJAN near the 1100 metres. Broke at the 350 metres with driver J Keast cautioned regarding the manner in which he used his whip at this stage of the race. | |
MAJOR TROJAN - shifted ground inwards near the 1100 metres checking JIMMY CANNON. Driver N Purdon (assisted by Senior Horseman M Heenan) admitted a charge of careless driving under Rule 869(3)(b) and was fined $350 by the JCA. Paced roughly middle stages of the run home. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed a possible fracture of its pastern/cannon bone. The colt was treated with pain killers and an anti-inflammatory. Stewards will follow up the diagnosis in the coming days. Stood down pending a Veterinary certificate. | |

THE KAIK - weakened considerably from the 700 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination including an endoscopic procedure revealed a normal upper airway however it was advised that blood tests be done in the coming days to check for a possible chest infection. The results of these tests will be followed up. | |
UNICO ENCHANTRESS - held up by a tiring runner near the 700 metres losing ground. | |
GYPSY'S CHOICE - raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced middle stages. Driver S Whatuira advised that the hopple shorteners failed to activate on this mare. | |
BETTOR CHANCE - paced roughly late in the score-up and was back slightly at the start. | |

MADIBA - (M Anderson) broke near the 2200 metres after being eased down the track by GYPSY'S CHOICE (S Whatuira) losing its chance and being retired from the event. Stewards opened and adjourned an investigation into this incident and will speak to drivers M Anderson and S Whatuira in the coming days. | |
