Stewards expressed concern to the Club over the actual distance of races run today given the times/mile rates recorded.

The course manager undertook to re-measure the track prior to the second day to ensure that the correct starting positions are used.

Stewards exercised discretion in not filing an Information under Rule 1106(2) in relation to the distance of the races.

MR BILLIARDS - a false start was declared when the gelding broke in the score-up checking second row runners. Driver S Dickson elected to maintain his allotted barrier position for the restart. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
HUNTER RED - badly checked after the start by a galloping runner losing considerable ground.
REAL DEAL CLOVELLY - placed on the unruly for the restart after becoming fractious. The gelding was declared unruly for mobile starts for its future racing.
WICKLOW STAR - Approval was given for the blinds to be removed at the re-start at the request of Driver K Marshall after the gelding galloped in the initial stages of the original score-up. Broke shortly after the start and shifted in checking inside runners before trailing the field. The mare was placed on the unruly for mobile starts.
ASHLEY TISDALE - broke near the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners.
EMIRA - checked shortly after the start.

ANNA BARCLAY - was two lengths out of position at the start. Driver J Abernethy advised that the mare was reluctant to fill its position at the start despite his efforts.
STRAWBERRY MOOSE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier manners.

GREY STOKE - broke after becoming unbalanced racing over the crossing near the 1700 metres and settled at the rear. Broke approaching the 600 metres losing all chance.
JASPER SEVEN - broke passing the 200 metres when challenging losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.

DELIA MAY - a false start was declared after the mare broke late in the score-up checking second row runner. Driver J Abernethy elected to maintain his allocated barrier position. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare. Broke near the 1700 metres after becoming unbalanced racing over the crossing and locked wheels with ELMAGINATION which resulted in Driver J Abernethy being tipped from the sulky. Mr Abernethy was examined by St Johns Ambulance staff and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
TOPPATHEROCK - severely checked near the 1650 metres which resulted in Driver S Abernethy being tipped from the sulky.
SANTANNA LEGEND - checked near the 1650 metres. Over-raced middle stages.
REBEL RICHIE - severely checked near the 1650 metres and was retired from the event.
FOR TONY - broke near the 1750 metres losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
ELMAGINATION - checked and locked wheels near the 1650 metres and was retired from the event.
BONNIE BOY- checked and broke near the 1650 metres losing considerable ground.
THE HAWKE - raced fiercely early. Inconvenienced and broke near the 1750 metres losing all chance.
THE ANCIENT ONE - checked near the 1650 metres losing considerable ground.

CLASSIE AMERICAN - inconvenienced when carried wider on the track in the run home.
MARSHAL STAR - shifted out under pressure over the final stages inconveniencing outside runner. Driver S Dickson was shown the replay of the run home and cautioned in regard to maintaining as straight a course as possible in order to comply with the home straight regulations.
MAJOR CLASSIC - over-raced middle stages. Held up early home turn and the initial stages of the run home.

SHOW BUSINESS - Driver K Marshall was cautioned for the manner in which he shifted ground outwards near the 150 metres which resulted in outside runners being momentarily checked.
DELIGHTFUL ART - Trainer G Ellison was issued with a $100.00 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding with an incorrect saddle cloth number. Broke in the early stages of the score-up and trailed the field throughout. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
AMARO - broke near the 250 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
GREY SKIES - held up early until near the 200 metres.
TRIXIE BROMAC - momentarily checked near the 150 metres. Underwent a post race veterinary examination and found to be lame in the near hind. Withdrawn from the second day on veterinary advice.
JAY FM - momentarily checked near the 150 metres.
