Race 9 - BRUCE SINCLAIR PACE
Stewards spoke to Driver B McLellan regarding the manner in which he drove PASS THE SPEIGHTS over the concluding stages of this race. Of particular concern was his lack of vigour during this stage of the race and his decision to cease in all urgings shortly after passing the 50 metres. After hearing the explanation tendered by Mr McLellan Stewards issued him with a charge under HRNZ Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure PASS THE SPEIGHTS is given full opportunity to win the race or in the alternative, HRNZ Rule 868(3) in that he failed to drive PASS THE SPEIGHTS out to the end of the race when having a reasonable chance of winning. A hearing date has yet to be set.
