The adjourned hearing into a defended charge of careless driving was reopened. Authorisation of placings was withheld to enable Stewards to view the replay of the event and to ascertain as to whether there were grounds to seek a ruling from the JCA as to whether the race be declared void after the lap bell was inadvertently sounded as the field approached the 2000 metres. This resulted in several drivers being confused as to the distance of the event with tactics varied accordingly. It was subsequently confirmed that there were not grounds under Rule 1106(2) to request a ruling and placings were duly authorised. Judge K Wells was severely reprimanded in relation to his error in sounding the lap bell prematurely. Stewards exercised discretion towards Junior Drivers T Cameron (ULTIMATE ANGEL), T Fensom (KAITLYN) and B Butcher (STARS DELIGHT) in relation to the manner in which they had driven however these Drivers were reminded that ultimately it is their obligation to be aware of the distance of any race that they participate in.
ULTIMATE ANGEL - improved three wide passing the 1600 metres to race without cover near the 1000 metres. Gave ground near the 500 metres. Junior Driver T Cameron advised that the premature sounding of the lap bell had influenced his decision to make this mid-race move.

STARS DELIGHT - Junior Driver B Butcher advised that the premature sounding of the lap bell had influenced his decision to commence to drive the mare out for a short distance entering the front straight approaching the 1000 metres.
