CARLO GAMBINO - held up rounding the final bend and in the early and middle stages of the home straight. Stewards questioned trainer/driver B McLellan regarding the tactics he adopted near the 500 metres when electing to shift CARLO GAMBINO inwards onto the marker line as opposed to remain in the three-wide line and trail ARCHMAN into the race. Mr McLellan explained that he recognised that several runners had shifted outwards off the marker line at this stage of the race and felt that it was a better option to shift inwards and follow favoured runner HONOUR THE BET. Mr McLellan added that if he had maintained his position behind ARCHMAN he would have had to shift the gelding into a four-wide position for its finishing effort which he believed to be disadvantageous to his chances. Stewards noted Mr McLellan's comments. Cleared from the Unruly for future mobile start engagements. | |

ROBBIE ROYALE - broke when trailing SPRINGBANK ELLA (C Purvis) near the 1200 metres losing ground. After reviewing all available video footage and questioning drivers B Norman and C Purvis it was established that ROBBIE ROYALE had galloped free of interference and could not apportion blame to the positioning of Miss Purvis' whip at this stage of the race. | |

MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke racing into the first bend inconveniencing the trailing NATHAN D. Raced wide from the 1100 metres. | |
ARDEE TROUBLE - driver B Orange was cautioned to ensure that his whip remains inside the sulky confines. | |
MAKE MY DAY - slow to begin. Trotted roughly throughout the home straight and was unable to be placed under any significant pressure. | |

HURRICANE BANNER - lay inwards through the early stages of the home straight and near the 150 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly positioned near the sulky wheel of LORRETTA FRANCO. | |
SHEEZUS - raced wide in the early stages. Driver M Williamson was cautioned to ensure his foot remains in the sulky footrest for the duration of the race. | |

THE MAROON MARAUDER - paced roughly in the early stages losing ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early and middle stages of the home straight until passing the 100 metres. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance connections advised that the stable had recently overcome a minor viral complaint within the stable, and had been expecting a more forward showing. | |

EVER READY - driver E Barron reported that she had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running. | |
PAY ME JIMMY - paced roughly near the 1900 metres when being restrained. | |
MISS WAIKIWI - raced three-wide without cover throughout. Weakened from the 700 metres, then hung inwards and paced roughly near the 500 metres when awkwardly placed near the sulky wheel of EVER READY. Stewards questioned junior driver K McNaught (assisted by D Dunn) regarding the tactics he adopted through the middle stages when being obliged to race three-wide without cover. Mr McNaught explained that after being caught wide in the early stages he had recognised that the parked EVER READY had improved forward in an attempt to obtain a leading position near the 1700 metres and envisioned that he would take up that vacant position. Mr McNaught added that when this did not eventuate he was unable to obtain cover despite his urgings to improve the mare forward when inclined to hang inwards. After hearing Mr McNaught's explanation Stewards deemed his actions were not unreasonable given the circumstances therefore took the matter no further. | |
CAST A SHADOW - hung inwards through the early stages of the score-up resulting in the gelding being out of position at the dispatch. | |
CHILLI FRANCO - steadied near the 1800 metres when awkwardly positioned to the inside of CANARDLY REMEMBER when being eased down the track by CAST A SHADOW. Stewards will speak with driver M Purvis regarding this in the coming days. | |

The off-side hopple carrier strap came adrift near the 800 metres, resulting in the mare breaking passing the 600 metres and taken to the in-field for safety reasons. Trainer W McEwan was fined $100 by the Judicial Committee after admitting a breach pursuant to Rule 864(2)(d) when failing to affix the hopple carrier so as not to come adrift. | |
