CLARE MARGARET - shifted inwards abruptly at the start contacting the running rail losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
I W MCNIK - broke shortly after the start.
LOVEYOUTODOIT - trotted roughly throughout the home straight and was unable to be driven out. Driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the removable deafeners.
BEAT THE HEAT - shifted outwards in the run home when under pressure. Driver J Cox was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
SILVER SPUR - broke near the 900 metres.
MONARO MIA - slow to begin. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
IKNOWATHINGORTWO - broke after 200 metres.
MILLIONDOLLARMONKEY - broke passing the 700 metres.
MONARCO - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Broke near the 600 metres.
DOLLY JONES - broke near the 1200 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.

REAL DEAL CLOVELLY - very fractious in the preliminary and was unable to proceed to the pre-start area without assistance. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding.
THE BOUNDER - held up leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
OLDE OAK ELLIE - held up early stages of the home straight.
FRANCO GARCIA - raced wide in the early stages.
NGATIRA - hung inwards and locked wheels with FRANCO TODDY for a short distance passing the 500 metres. Lay inwards throughout the run home.
WESTBURN YIELD - paced roughly late in the run home.
FRANCO TODDY - locked wheels with NGATIRA for a short distance passing the 500 metres after that runner hung inwards.

THE LAST STRAW - broke as the start was effected losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding.
SKIPPERLAND - paced roughly as the start was effected. Driver R Holmes admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner inside the final 400 metres. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended his horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 2 February 2018 (3 days).

CHOICE LUSTRE - hampered at the start.
KEY REACTOR - raced keenly in the early stages. When spoken to regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the gelding had over-raced and worked hard in the middle stages to improve to the parked position with the effort taking its toll. Mr Dunn added that in his opinion the horse may not have backed up from its first day run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

THE HURRICANE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.

GLENISTHEBETTOR - lay inwards near the 200 metres.
ROCKNROLL NEVIN - hampered shortly after the start by a breaking runner. Lay inwards in the early stages of the home straight.

JEAN SEBASTIEN - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. Broke shortly after the start.
LEO'S GIFT - weakened on the final bend hampering trailing runners. Broke near the 300 metres.
SUNNY BILL - broke near the 2100 metres.
RARANGI OPAL - broke racing into the first bend checking trailing runners. Driver S Abernethy advised that he sustained a punctured sulky tyre in this incident. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SCALLYWAG SAM - broke passing the 2300 metres.
LADY BEATRIX BOURBON - broke racing into the first bend.
REDWOOD INVASION - held up final bend. Hampered near the 300 metres by a breaking runner.
GLENIS MARIE - broke passing the 300 metres.
YOUNG STRANGER - broke after 150 metres. Broke again near the 1000 metres. Stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion. Trainer T Grant advised the gelding would be sent for a spell.
ONE OVER DOVER - checked racing into the first bend. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
SUNNY GLENIS - broke racing into the first bend. Shifted inwards over the concluding stages. Driver R Anderson was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home. Authorisation of 3rd place was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
MCLOVIN - held up final bend.
LAVROS TEXAS - checked and broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.

FOUR STARZZZ LEGEND - broke after 200 metres as a result of the off side front carrier coming adrift and was retired from the event. Trainer J Lethaby admitted a breach of Rule 864(2)(d) in that he failed to affix the gear so as not to come adrift with the JCA imposing a fine of $200.
MOTORING MAJOR - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
SUMMER WEALTH - raced wide early stages.
SCELTA UNO - raced wide early stages.
CHELSEA ELLA - over-raced racing into the first bend and broke.
BLINGITON - hampered rounding the first bend. Lay inwards throughout the home straight.
MOTU BETTOR BE QUICK - raced wide early stages.
LIBERAL ARDEN - when spoken to regarding the performance driver T Chmiel advised that in his opinion the gelding had failed to back up from the first day.

UNICO ENCHANTRESS - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
AMERICAN ALICE - held up final bend.
MAGICAL MATTY - over-raced early stages when being restrained to the rear of the field. Broke briefly when awkwardly placed close to the wheel of HES FAST AND FURIOUS near the 1100 metres after a slight easing of the pace. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
AWAYOVERNIGHT - held up early stages of the run home.
HIS ROYAL HARNESS - held up early stages of the run home.
TYRON BETTOR'S ELLA - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres.

AUGUSTA(AUS) - held up throughout the run home with driver J Curtin advising he did not activate the removable deafeners.
RED MOON RISING - began awkwardly. Crowded by COPPERHEAD ROSE racing into the first bend. Hung inwards final bend. Held up early stages of the home straight.
COPPERHEAD ROSE - driver C Markham was warned for the manner he shifted ground racing into the first bend when placing RED MOON RISING in restricted room.
BEAU VISTA - driver A Lethaby defended a breach of Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that she forced ASSET CONTROL wider on the track near the 1200 metres when not entitled to do so. After viewing the replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mrs Lethaby was fined $200.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - broke at the start.
DANA DAWN - blundered racing into the first bend and broke. Held up early stages of the home straight. Authorisation of 2nd place was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
GO DAVEY - raced wide from the 800 metres.
DIAMONDS N CASH - paced roughly late in the run home.
PRADAS IDEAL DAHLING - broke briefly at the start. Over-raced and broke near the 1200 metres after breaking the front hopple loop and was retired from the race. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
ASSET CONTROL - forced four wide from the 1200 metres by BEAU VISTA which shifted ground outwards.

RUN BOY RUN - weakened final bend
JULIA LADY - held up final bend.
CABLE BEACH - broke at the start. When spoken to regarding the performance driver D Dunn advised that in his opinion the horse had failed to handle the grass track.
ULTIMATE DESIRE - weakened final bend.
JOHNNY EYRE - slow to begin. Weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned in regards to the seemingly disappointing performance, driver S Ottley stated that the gelding was unsuited to not being able to gain a respite during the event due to the fast tempo of the race.
