Stewards have commenced an investigation into the conduct of a Starter's Assistant prior to the start of Race 3.

Trainer G Smith advised Stewards on 17 January that QUAESTOR was treated for a cough following its disappointing performance at Rangiora on 7 January. Mr Smith added that the filly has worked well this week and will continue with its current preparation.

Race 1SAM OTTLEY 'FIVE WINNERS IN A DAY' MOBILE TROTVideo  Video 
SKYLINE - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record. Broke again with 200 metres to run.
PRESTISSIMO - hampered near the 200 metres by a breaking runner.
THANK YOU - broke after 200 metres. Broke again on several occasions during the running. A warning was placed on the racing record of the colt. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer G Hope advised that the horse would be gelded and sent for a spell.
GRAND PRINCESS - driver B Orange advised that the mare had trotted roughly throughout the home straight and that he was unable to fully drive the horse out.
ONE OVER DA SKYE - broke with 200 metres to run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MY EYRE - raced wide without cover in the early stages.
ABOUT LAST NIGHT - raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages. Broke with 600 metres to run.
RED HARBOUR - hung inwards from the 800 metres.
MISSALYSSA - broke racing into the first bend. Weakened with 600 metres to run.

DYING TO SEE YOU - broke near the 2000 metres with the gelding breaking both hopple connecting straps in consequence and was retired from the event. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good order.
LAST TOUCH - held up final bend.
CAPITAL GIRL - a false start was declared due to CAPITAL GIRL backing away into the line of LINCOLN TOY just prior to the barrier strand being released. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
CHROMOZONE - Trainer A Stuart was charged a $25 colour fee.
CRIMSON LANE - displayed poor barrier manners at the re-start. Hampered racing into the first bend.
LIMOSO - broke at the start.
PEMBROOK BLUE - broke at the start. Hampered racing into the first bend. Raced wide without cover through the early stages before reaching the parked position near the 1400 metres. Weakened from the 600 metres.
ART COLLECTOR - raced greenly racing into the first bend and hung outwards hampering outside runners. Improved wide without cover through the middle stages. Hung inwards in the early stages of the home straight and had to be steadied.
LINCOLN TOY - broke after 200 metres.
FRANCO HATTON - the outside number detached near the 600 metres.
WAIKARI FIRE - displayed poor barrier manners at the re-start.

HONOUR THE BET - raced greenly near the 50 metres.
SHOT IN THE DARK - crowded in the early stages of the score up and was back slightly at the start. Held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight.
SOCIAL MEDIA - paced roughly in the score up and was back slightly at the start. Weakened on the final bend.

HIGHLAND STAR - the start was delayed due to the gelding requiring attention from the farrier. Broke racing into the first bend checking BELMONT'S GREATEST before being shifted inside track markers to avoid trailing runners. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight. Authorisation of 3rd place being awarded was withheld until Stewards confirmed the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages and had not gained an advantage when racing inside track markers. Stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
BELMONT'S GREATEST - trotted roughly at the start. Over-raced in the early stages. Checked and broke briefly racing into the first bend. Gave ground from the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. The connections advised the gelding would be sent for a spell.
KEN'S DREAM - broke after 50 metres.
FIRA - trotted roughly throughout.
MR MAJESTIC - broke in the early stages.
MISSIE CASTLETON - hung inwards leaving the final bend. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
TIJUANA TAXI - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the standing start record of the mare.
CASTLETON TUI - very slow to begin. Broke shortly after the start.
WHATASISTA - very slow to begin. Broke near the 2000 metres losing all chance.

GLENGARRY KNIGHT - paced roughly in the score up and over-raced being out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide in the early stages.
THE DREAM MAKER - raced wide without cover in the early stages.
DELIGHTFUL TANNER - hung inwards on the final bend.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - hung inwards in the score up and was back slightly at the start.
GEAR CHANGE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Williamson.

HESTIA FRANCO - hung inwards and broke near the 1150 metres hampering a trailing runner. Stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
CINDY BROMAC - driver R May reported that the mare had been striking the sulky wheels throughout.
MICKEY JAY - raced wide in the early stages.
ROSTRIEVER VICTORY - raced wide in the early and middle stages. Weakened final bend.
URALLA SUE - raced wide in the early and middle stages. Held up final bend.
ZULU COURAGE - over-raced in the early stages. Held up final bend.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
LIVING LEGEND - hampered near the 1150 metres. Held up final bend and throughout the home straight.

DON'T LOOK BACK - held up early stages of the run home.
REBEL KIBBYBONES - broke after 50 metres. Hung inwards over the concluding stages. Authorisation of 2nd place being awarded was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer J Hay.
STELLAR SUCCESS - held up in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
WESTAR MAGGIE - broke at the start losing all chance. Stood down from standing starts until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
INSIGNIFICANT - broke at the start losing all chance.
NOBLE LAVROS - broke at the start.
CASTLEREAGH - broke shortly after the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 200 metres.
JEDDY R YA READY - broke with 200 metres to run.
DAIQUIRI - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.

MISS YOU - held up for clear racing room in the middle stages of the home straight.
BETTOR TO BE TRICKY - paced roughly late in the run home.
BACK IN BLACK - hung inwards throughout the home straight and shifted into the passing lane. Driver R May was questioned regarding the manner he drove in the home straight. Mr May explained that the gelding had hung inwards causing him difficulty. Stewards placed a warning on the racing record of BACK IN BLACK however notwithstanding this Mr May was cautioned to make a greater effort to ensure his runner does not shift into the passing lane.
GYPSY'S CHOICE - raced wide from the 1400 metres.
CHRISTIAN WHO - paced roughly and broke near the 350 metres. Junior driver J Whittaker with the assistance of Senior Horseman D Butt, admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip when out of contention. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
DOITSON - over-raced in the early stages.

FRANCO EXETER - the boring pole was removed prior to the start. Broke at the start.
LEADING THE WAY - broke at the start. Held up final bend.

ZIMFANDEL - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
MR MIDNIGHT - broke at the start losing all chance.
NEARIS GREEN - over-raced in the middle stages.

STOMPEM - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground. Weakened final bend.
PLAYBOY PRINCE - paced roughly with 600 metres to run.
TRENDY'S BAD GIRL - weakened leaving the final bend.
AWAYTOCULLECT - held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight. Junior driver O Thornley advised that the gelding had hung outwards in the run home and she was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
ENGLISH ROSE - lay inwards near the 250 metres.

SOME LEGEND - when spoken to regarding the improved performance, driver D Dunn explained that the filly had suffered from a heart issue at its last start. He added that SOME LEGEND had since been freshened and had appreciated the drop in class of today's race.
GAME CHANGER - held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
GOING TO CALIFORNIA - raced wide in the early stages. Held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
GUCCI CAVALLO - late scratching at 8.05am on Veterinary advice.
ARTICULIGHT - over-raced middle stages. Held up early stages of the home straight. Paced roughly near the 150 metres.
