Race 6 - WAIKATO FLYING MILE NIGHT 5th JANUARY HANDICAP PACE
Stewards reviewed VALOR LUSTRE's previous starts over the last 3 months and confirmed that the mare had been raced in forward positions as described by Driver A Poutama and further confirmed that Trainer S Telfer had instructed him to drive in this manner. Mr Telfer also expressed his disappointment in the mare's performance given the drop in class of this race.

Race 10 - WINGER MOTORS 2017 NATIONAL TROT (FFA MOBILE)
Trainers G & N Hope advised Stewards on 3 January that EVERYBODY KNOWS has not recovered from some dehydration issues since last racing necessitating its scratching from Cambridge this week. They added that the gelding will now return home for a brief freshen up.
Subsequent to the meeting Stewards have questioned Drivers T Cameron (THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSON) and T Williams (KYVALLEY BLUR) in relation to THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSON breaking near the 350 metres. It was established that KYVALLEY BLUR had lay in despite the efforts of Mr Williams and contacted the hind leg of THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSON resulting in the gelding galloping and losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing manners of KYVALLEY BLUR.

BANNER OF ART - inconvenienced and checked by a weakening runner passing the 600 metres. Further hampered shortly after and failed to run on.
BIT OF A TIGER - raced three wide early. Contested for the lead middle stages.
DRUM WITHERS - paced roughly when giving ground inside the 600 metres inconveniencing a trailing runner.
BETTOR EDITION - badly held up by a weakening runner inside the 600 metres.
WHITEHAVEN BEACH - paced unevenly when three wide rounding the first bend. Paced roughly in the lead passing the 900 metres and was restrained to take the trail then weakened out inside the 600 metres inconveniencing a trailing runner. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Driver Z Butcher advised that after having paced roughly near the 900 metres when in restricted room the gelding appeared to lose interest despite his efforts and had disappointed.
JACK TAR - broke free of interference racing into the first bend and was pulled up with a broken hopple. The gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory order. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC - inclined to lay in throughout the run home.
MACHBRAD - held up over the early stages of the run home.

BROOKIES PRINCE - lay in passing the 500 metres momentarily placing STARS DELIGHT in restricted room.

COMMANDO ONE - broke approaching the first turn losing considerable ground. Broke again on the final turn.

GEORGE - inconvenienced by a breaking runner near the 1200 metres.
JASPER SEVEN - broke near the 1200 metres when towards the rear losing all chance and inconveniencing a trailing runner.
TERESKOVA - trotted roughly near the 800 metres.

LERATO - the off side deafener failed to activate despite Driver S Phelan's efforts.
DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE - a false start was declared when the filly galloped in the score up interfering with the second line runners. Driver T Mitchell elected to maintain its barrier 3 position. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners record.
ENCRYPTION - raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
SARABI - raced three wide early.
SUPER CHANGE - raced three wide from inside the 1400 metres. Paced roughly and broke for several strides entering the straight for the run home.
FOREVER PEARL - raced three wide from inside the 1400 metres.
CD EXPRESS - raced wide early.
MONKEY PRINCESS - raced three wide from the 1400 metres.
SOLE DELIGHT - commenced to give ground from the 800 metres.
ROSA BELLE - placed in restricted room approaching the 1800 metres requiring Driver J Abernethy to restrain the filly.

DJOKOVIC - broke shortly after the start and galloped a considerable distance before settling. The gelding was declared unruly from mobile starts.
SUNNY RUBY - broke on several occasions in the score up. The mare was declared unruly from mobile starts. Broke again passing the 1150 metres when trailing the field.
REALMEIN - broke approaching the first bend losing its chance.

MAJOR CLASSIC - Driver L Hollis was shown the replay of the final stages and spoken to advisedly regarding the manner in which he drove.
PARKER - raced outside the leader and weakened from inside the 400 metres inconveniencing a trailing runner. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
CLASSIE AMERICAN - a minor infringement notice was issued and $100 fine imposed on trainer R Richardson for failing to affix a bandage on the off hind leg so as not to come adrift.
VALOR LUSTRE - Trainer S Telfer advised Stewards that following the mare's disappointing performance at its previous start that he had instructed Driver A Poutama to restrain from his wide draw and look to work into the race over the final stages. This information was passed on to the Commentator for public announcement. Held up by a tiring runner at the 350 metres.

ELDOLAR - paced roughly shortly after the start.
HEAVEN ROCKS - broke for several strides in the score up. Removed from the unruly for future mobiles.

MONARCHY INVASION - broke near the 1800 metres losing considerable ground.
XTRA TIME - broke on the first turn losing it's chance.
MASTER MERLIN - broke near the 1300 metres losing it's chance and was retired from the event. The gelding was subsequently stood down until it trials satisfactorily.
ONE BID BUYS - broke early and settled at the rear.

GOTTA KEEPASECRET - weakened inside the last 500 metres.
MCDAKNIFE - weakened inside the last 500 metres.
TRINITY BROMAC - over raced in the score up and broke shortly after the start settling 30 metres at the rear of the body of the field. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners record. After catching the field with 1200 metres to run proceeded to over race again and was taken down into the passing lane before being restrained.
THE HIGH ACHIEVER - raced three wide from the 1200 metres.

MISSY MOO - broke at the start and tailed the field throughout.
MISS BLISSFUL - broke shortly after the start and was pulled up after the crupper came adrift. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory order.
PHOEBE GEM - broke at the start and lost all chance.
STAR OF OLESYA - inconvenienced by a galloping runner shortly after the start.
