GERALD - weakened from the 700 metres.
CAESAR ROCKS - hampered for a distance when trailing a weakening runner passing the 600 metres.
FRANCO CALIPH - Amateur driver R Sissons admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 2400 metres when permitting the gelding to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear of PAT CAMPBELL which was checked and the trailing LIVE TO TELL and EJA PATRON being hampered. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a suspension of Mr Sissons amateur drivers licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the 2nd April 2018 inclusive (3 months).
LIVE TO TELL - broke when being shifted wider to avoid a breaking runner near the 2400 metres, resulting in a trailing runner being hampered.
ALEXY - Amateur driver S Wigg admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she exceeded the permitted number of strikes inside the final 400 metres. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
NERVE OF STEEL - broke in score-up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier record.
RUSSIAN EXPRESS - lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
PAT CAMPBELL - checked entering the first bend when contacting the sulky wheel of FRANCO CALIPH (R Sissons) which shifted inwards when not sufficiently clear.
HIGHVIEW ILLUSION - broke during the early stages of the score-up and was several lengths out of position at the start. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier record.
EJA PATRON - broke when hampered by a breaking runner near the 2400 metres. Raced wide through the middle stages until near the 1300 metres when obtaining a leading position. Driver M Maynard reported the off-side hopple shortener pin had failed to release in the early stages due to the cord becoming entangled.
No claims were lodged.
 
Race 2DUNCAN AGRICULTURAL/OMAKAU AUTO CENTRE MOBILE TROTVideo  Video 
HORSE OF COURSE - broke near the 1500 metres when tightened for racing room by STILL EYRE (R Allen). Stewards lodged a Protest pursuant to Rule 869A(2) against second placing being awarded to STILL EYRE alleging interference to the third placed HORSE OF COURSE which had caused it to break and therefore prejudiced its chances of finishing in the best possible position. Trainer/driver R Allen did not contest the Protest and after hearing submissions from the Stewards the JCA relegated STILL EYRE to third placing and promoted HORSE OF COURSE to second placing.
STILL EYRE - driver R Allen admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 1500 metres when tightening the racing room of HORSE OF COURSE which broke as a consequence. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a suspension of Mr Allen's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing on the 4th January 2018 up to and including the 10th January 2018 (3 days).
FANCY WOMAN - broke shortly after the start. Authorisation of fourth placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when in a break over the early stages.
BE BEE LASS - trotted roughly through the score-up and was out of position at the dispatch.
TRES MAGNIFIQUE - broke near the 200 metres.
KATIKI LAD - weakened from the 600 metres.
CRUSHER COLLINS - raced wide without cover through the middle stages.

HICORI - paced roughly when being shifted inwards to utilise the Passing Lane near the 200 metres.

STAR RULER - observed to have blood present in its mouth pre-race, with a subsequent veterinary examination clearing the gelding fit to start. Held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight.

GOT A BEAUTY - paced roughly for a distance passing the 900 metres before breaking when being improved wider near the 300 metres.
SILVER DALE - raced wide without cover through the early stages before being restrained to obtain cover near the 1500 metres. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner near the 300 metres.

BROADWAY BANNER - hung outwards and raced greenly when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
TUAPEKA TRICK - driver J Dunn reported he did not activate the removable gear applied to this gelding due to having the field covered.
BENZ BUY - paced roughly and broke entering the bend near the 550 metres.
DIRECT CONTROL - hung outwards during the score-up and as the start was effected locked wheels with KATIES NIGHTMARE, breaking in consequence losing considerable ground. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier record.
KATIES NIGHTMARE - locked wheels with an inside runner as the start was effected and shortly after paced roughly for a distance. Raced wide without cover through the middle stages prior to being restrained to obtain cover. Paced roughly and lost ground from the 700 metres. A warning was placed against the mare's racing manners record.
FIRSTJOY - raced wide through the early stages.
BULLYS PRINCESS - held up in the early stages of the home straight. Trainer L Sinnamon was issued a Minor Infringement Notice pursuant to Rule 864(2)(d) and fined $100 after the hopple connecting strap came adrift during the running when incorrectly applied.
MATAI JETSTAR - hung inwards throughout placing trainer/driver A Milne in some difficulty.

PLAYBOY'S BROTHER - driver D Dunn advised he did not activate the removable gear applied to this gelding due to having the field covered.
HOLDON TOYASPURS - weakened from the 400 metres. Trainer M Prendergast was issued a Minor Infringement Notice pursuant to Rule 864(2)(d) and fined $100 after the near-hind bandage came adrift during the running.
ONE YANKEE GINGA - broke at the start. Held up rounding the final bend.
GORILLA PLAYBOY - broke in the early stages.
OCH AYE THE NOO - broke rounding the first bend losing its chance.
ONE OVER DA STARS - broke near the 400 metres. Driver B Orange reported this was due to the mare hanging inwards at this stage of the event. Broke again over the concluding stages. A warning was placed against the mare's racing manners record.
SHE'S ALLTHE CRAZE - held up by a weakening runner on the final bend.
JEDDY R YA READY - held up by a weakening runner on the final bend.
TOO COOL - broke near the 1100 metres.
THE DOMINATOR - broke at the start losing its chance.

SIMPLY DREAMING - broke in the score-up checking second-line runners and necessitating a false start be declared. Driver D Dunn elected to remain in his allotted position for the re-start. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier record. Trainer T Stratford advised SIMPLY DREAMING would now be sent for a spell.
SELENA FRANCO - raced wide in the early stages. Paced roughly in the home straight.
ANA MALAK - raced wide in the early stages until near the 1200 metres.
FRANCO EXETER - severely checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres.
SWEET MARY - hung inwards in the early stages and near the 1400 metres broke, severely checking the trailing FRANCO EXETER. Broke again on numerous occasions during the running. A warning was placed against the filly's racing manners record. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BONTZ - raced wide in the early stages. Held up for clear running over the final 100 metres.

FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - lay inwards when placed under pressure rounding the final bend, striking several track markers.
TIGER THOMPSON - paced roughly when being restrained in the early stages. Lay inwards when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Driver M Williamson reported that the hopple shortener pins had failed to release in the early stages despite his efforts.
EAMON MAGUIRE - had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100 metres.
MONGOLIAN HERO - paced roughly in the score-up.

FATHER CHRISTMAS - trainer/driver P Williamson dropped his foot from the sulky footrest for a short distance in the early stages then again for a distance passing the 400 metres. After hearing Mr Williamson's explanation, Stewards issued a charge pursuant to Rule 867 and was subsequently fined $100 by the JCA.
PYRAMID MAGIC - broke at the start losing its chance.
BELLES SON - broke near the 500 metres losing its chance.
JEN JACCKA - raced wide in the early stages.
HARRIET OF MOT - driver J Dunn reported the mare had felt indifferent in its action during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

SENORITA MARGARITA - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover.
IODEAN - inconvenienced by a breaking runner passing the 600 metres.
MAIDONTHEBEACH - paced roughly near the 300 metres.
LIVING LEGEND - raced wide in the early stages.
WESTAR SAM - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight. Paced roughly near the 150 metres after contacting the sulky wheel of LIVING LEGEND when attempting to obtain clear running. Junior driver M Anderson (with the assistance of R McIlwrick) admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) in that he drove in a manner likely to cause interference when shifting outwards at this stage and after hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
CLIFTON TACTIC - inconvenienced by a breaking runner passing the 600 metres.
MAGNATE MARA - paced roughly and broke near the 650 metres when racing between FRANKIE JONES and SENORITA MARGARITA (R McIlwrick) which shifted outwards when attempting to ease that runner wider. Stewards questioned drivers G Lee and R McIlwrick regarding this incident and after hearing their explanations adjourned the matter to give it further consideration.
