WILLEDU - locked on one rein racing into the first bend, giving Junior Driver N Delany a difficult drive with the gelding being restrained to the rear of the field. WILLEDU is required to trial satisfactorily before resuming racing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. | |
COME DANCE WITH ME - after settling back at the start the filly was improved sharply to reach the lead with 1200 metres to run and inside the 1100 metres gave ground inconveniencing the trailing runners and when asked to increase its tempo by Driver Z Butcher she failed to respond. Mr Butcher then shifted the filly inside the marker line so as not to further impede the trailing runners before being retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had suffered an atrial fibrillation. A veterinary certificate of fitness is required prior to resuming. | |
IVANA FLYBYE - inclined to over race when being eased from racing outside the leader to take a trail inside the 1300 metres. | |
MAKERS MARK - Driver P Ferguson was cautioned in regard to his obligations in relation to the Push Out rule inside the 1100 metres when he shifted from the two wide to the three wide line as STARS DELIGHT was attempting to improve to his outer. In considering this matter Stewards took into account the sudden easing of the pace and also that Mr Ferguson had commenced his outward shift prior to STARS DELIGHT covering his sulky wheel. | |

KAITLYN - held up rounding the final bend and contacted track markers prior to the passing lane. The authorisation of the 3rd placing of the mare was withheld until such time it was confirmed that it did not gain an advantage when travelling over the markers prior to the passing lane. Junior Driver T Fensom was charged under Rule 869(7A)(b) in that she failed to ensure that her sulky did not protrude inside the marker line when attempting an inside run near the 250 metres. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $150.00 | |
JAMIESON SHARD - settled at the rear early, looked to improve three wide inside the 1500 metres then eased to take a trail in the two wide line toward the rear at the 1100 metres. Shifted again to the three wide line with 700 metres to run trailing WAINGARO MARA, which failed to improve wide rounding the final bend before switching to an inside run in the home straight and finishing on into 8th place beaten 9 lengths. Junior Driver J MacKinnon advised that he was surprised the gelding showed no early gate speed and had felt flat throughout. | |

DAUNTLESS - gave ground final stages. Driver B Edwards reported that his near side sulky tyre punctured during the running with the tyre and tube coming away from the rim placing him at a considerable disadvantage. | |

WILL TAKE CHARGE - paced roughly under pressure near the 100 metres and broke briefly on two occasions. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until it was established that WILL TAKE CHARGE had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Authorisation was then further withheld as to whether there were grounds for a Protest after THE THUG broke shortly after when briefly inconvenienced by WILL TAKE CHARGE. It was established after hearing evidence from Driver Z Butcher that THE THUG should not have broken given the minor inconvenience received and that in Mr Butcher's opinion THE THUG had galloped as a result of being placed under pressure with the whip. 3rd placing was then duly authorised. A final warning was placed against the racing manners of WILL TAKE CHARGE. | |
