After hearing initial evidence and viewing the replays the matter was adjourned sine die to enable Stewards to review the mare's recent racing. Mr Chin defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly causing interference to PRIMUS INTER PARES near the 550 metres. The JCA upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $600.00.

Mr Dunn added he believed the horse was more competitive when racing over more distance. Trainer M. Kerr advised that the gelding has been pleasing him in work and that he was disappointed with its run, that blood tests would be taken and he undertook to report to the Stewards anything that may help to explain the run.

When questioned regarding the filly's improved performance Trainer R. Dunn explained that despite winning two starts ago the horse had given the driver steering difficulty and so they had added a boring pole for its next run. Mr Dunn said the filly had resented the pole and raced intractably and so it was removed for this evening's race.
CONWAY BEACH - When spoken to regarding the filly's performance Driver and Co-Trainer N. Rasmussen advised she had intended to take up a leading position however, the filly had been unresponsive to her urgings in the early stages.
