Drivers P Ferguson (KAMWOOD KID) and A Poutama (DANA DAWN) were questioned regarding this incident and it was established that the gelding broke after momentarily contesting for a position in the one out running line and broke free of interference. A warning was placed on JOHNNY PODRES's racing manners record. | |

WAINGARO MARA - raced keenly approaching the 1200 metres with Junior Driver D Ferguson taking hold when trailing BRAINSTORMER which was eased to allow a runner to improve to the lead. | |
BRAINSTORMER - Junior Driver T Lethaby eased the pace approaching the 1200 metres to allow VANHALEM to improve to the lead which resulted in the trailing runner WAINGARO MARA, which was racing keenly, to take hold. The sulky wheel tyre came adrift during the running with Junior Driver T Lethaby shifting the gelding inside the marker line over the final 200 metres. Junior Driver T Lethaby reported that he felt no contact with his wheel and that he thought the sulky wheel tyre had deflated rounding the first bend. | |

Paced roughly near the 700 metres and then again early in the run home. Driver J Curtin advised that the gelding over-raced early and paced roughly on the bends and that he would be recommending gear changes to the connections. | |
