Race 5P & M QUALITY PAINTERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
In accordance with Rule 211A Stipendiary Stewards abandoned the race due to an incident near the 1700 metres which resulted in AMERICAN LEGEND (J Abernethy) and SPORTY ELL (D Butcher) falling and both drivers being dislodged with resultant interference to several trailing runners. The race was abandoned due to one of the fallen runners SPORTY ELL being unable to be cleared from the track. D Butcher and J Abernethy were both examined by St Johns Ambulance staff and cleared to take their remaining drives.
AMERICAN LEGEND - paced roughly and fell at about the 1700 metres causing interference to trailing runners and dislodging driver J Abernethy from the sulky. A subsequent veterinary examination of the filly revealed superficial abrasions. AMERICAN LEGEND was subsequently stood down until it trials satisfactorily.
MAGICAL MISS - checked by a fallen runner near the 1700 metres.

WILLEDU - lay in rounding the first bend.
P TOMADO - lay in rounding the home bend and was unable to be improved outwards by Junior Driver J Wallace.
KAITLYN - caught three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Paced roughly rounding the home bend. When questioned regarding her driving tactics Junior Driver T Fensom explained that she had been instructed not to go forward out of the mobile and to look to work into the race which she did approaching the winning post on the first occasion. However, Junior Driver N Delany (WILLEDU), who had been racing outside the leader, had turned his whip and indicated that he wanted to hold that position so she was reluctant to challenge unduly as she did not want to get KAITLYN over racing as the mare had tended to do previously. Miss Fensom further explained that she did not have the option of restraining to the rear to take up a position closer to the track markers as NO WAY ELSE had improved out onto her back so she elected to sit back off the leaders to give her mare some respite. She also added that KAITLYN had paced roughly after she activated the deafeners and that only one sliding blind had activated early in the run home before finishing on strongly into 2nd place. Miss Fensom's comments were duly noted.
NO WAY ELSE - raced three wide with cover from the 2200 metres.
FLASH BOY - broke in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Held up rounding the home bend and in the early stages of the run home.
