GOTTA GOOD LOOKER - Locked sulky stays with another runner near the 300 metres and had to be steadied. Lay outwards when placed under pressure passing the 100 metres resulting in slight contact being made with the sulky of HANDSOME MAC.
HANDSOME MAC - Locked sulky stays with another runner near the 300 metres and had to be steadied.
SUPREME BANNER - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened on the final bend. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and slow recovery.
ALLIE - held up rounding the final bend and the early stages of the home straight until near the 150 metres.
AZTEC KING - hung throughout the score-up and continued to do so throughout the running. Raced fiercely through the middle stages causing driver J Morrison some difficulty. Broke near the 500 metres when becoming awkwardly positioned near the sulky of another runner. Connections were advised the gelding was stood down pending one satisfactory trial.

MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance.
PEGASUS HANOVER - broke at the start, then again passing the 800 metres. A final warning was placed against the gelding's racing manners record.
HEEZ BELMONT - broke near the 1900 metres then again passing the 1500 metres losing ground.
NATHAN D - broke near the 1800 metres.
PURE EMOTION - broke rounding the first bend losing its chance.
MISS MOPPET - broke passing the 750 metres.
CRUSHER COLLINS - fractious behind the barrier.
LADY OF THE MOMENT - broke rounding the first bend. Broke on the bend near the 1450 metres when being restrained, losing its chance. Trainer N Williamson advised that he would no longer be persevering with this filly as a racing proposition from his stable.
CUDDLY TROUBLE - removed from the Unruly for future standing starts.
SKY TOWER - Stewards questioned M Williamson regarding the manner he handled this horse in the middle stages when applying pressure to the lead of SOUTHERN ALPS for a considerable distance. Mr Williamson explained that his initial intention was to obtain a leading position however when this did not eventuate he elected to maintain his position outside the leading SOUTHERN ALPS. Mr Williamson added that SKY TOWER was comfortable racing in the parked position as it had done so at its previous start and did not feel that he was over exerting the gelding by doing so. Mr Williamson's comments were noted.

MISS WAIKIWI - hampered for a distance passing the 600 metres.
LIVERPOOL PEG - raced wide in the early stages until being restrained to the rear near the 1600 metres.
RAZCAL ALLEY - checked near the 500 metres.
MISS BIG - broke near the 600 metres after being shifted outwards by PRINCESS FULHAM and having to race in restricted room. Driver B Barclay was issued and admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he failed to concede his position when required to do so, resulting in his runner breaking and several other runners being hampered. After viewing the films and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a suspension of Mr Barclay's horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 14th November 2017 (3 days). A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a deep laceration to the inside of the left fore heel, with a veterinary clearance required prior to racing next. Co-trainers T & G Chmiel were issued with a warning for failing to lodge a horse movement form covering MISS BIG.
BETSTARS BLUE JEAN - checked near the 500 metres.
LILY DUCKET - checked near the 500 metres.
JENNYS ROSE - paced roughly passing the 800 metres when attempting to shift down to the parked position, being left to race three-wide thereafter.
LADY'S LASS - under pressure to hold its position in the field near the 600 metres, weakening thereafter.

MONIBURNS - under pressure passing 1000 metres and weakened thereafter being distanced at the finishing line. A Post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slightly elevated heart rate. Stewards will follow up the recovery with Trainer P Ellis in the coming days.
MASS INVASION - began awkwardly.
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL - broke near the 1800 metres.
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1800 metres losing ground, then had difficulty re-gaining its position in the field thereafter.
The official track conditions were down-graded to Good following this event.
 
Race 5CARRIERS ARMS HOTEL MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
ARDTOO - broke in the score up inconveniencing second line runners with a false start being declared. Driver C Ferguson elected to maintain his allotted position for the restart. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record. Hung inwards when attempting to shift wider near the 650 metres and in doing so made contact with the sulky wheel of RUNNING ON EMPTY. Driver C Ferguson advised that he would be recommending to connections that gear changes be made prior to the next start.
JAMES BUTT - paced roughly in the early stages and passing the winning post on the first occasion broke briefly, when awkwardly near the wheel of another runner when the pace ahead had eased.
HOT STARFF - broke in the initial score up. Raced wide until near the 1400 metres when being restrained to the rear of the field.
PLEASE SHUDDUP - over-raced in the score up for the restart and broke prior to dispatch. Driver S Tomlinson reported the gelding had become highly agitated following the false start.
RUNNING ON EMPTY - sustained a flat tyre near the 650 metres.

OUR BUDD - held up on the final bend having to shift wider in the early stages of the run home to improve.
BELMONT'S GREATEST - over-raced passing the 2300 metres.
RYDGEMONT MILLY - broke at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start events at the request of co-trainer M Shirley.
AMBRO AMEIGO - broke near the 1800 metres.
NOBLE GAMBLE - trotted roughly near the 900 metres losing considerable ground.
ROCKNPOP - broke at the start and again near the 900 metres.
LAURA BUSH - attempted to improve three-wide near the 1800 metres but was unable to progress as far forward as the parked position, breaking under pressure near the 900 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
LARCH - Driver A Suddaby was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the concluding stages. Mr Suddaby explained that the gelding commenced to trot roughly over the concluding stages and in his opinion rather than place it under further pressure it was more beneficial to keep the horse balanced in an attempt to stay in its rightful gait. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that Mr Suddaby's actions did not prejudice the finishing position of LARCH he was nevertheless cautioned to ensure in future he drives his horses out to the finish where circumstances permit.

KANSAS CITY JIM - broke late in the score-up resulting in BETTOR B READY being unable to take up its rightful position with a false start being declared. Driver R McIlwrick elected to start from Unruly position for the restart. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record. Gave ground from the 800 metres.
LAWRENCE - raced wide in the early stages until near the 1600 metres. Driver B Williamson reported that when attempting to shift into a three-wide position near the 500 metres the gelding had been reluctant to improve despite his urgings.
DISMARA - inconvenienced near the 1300 metres.
THATSWHATISAID - held up in the early stages of the home straight until passing the 100 metres.
FRANCO SANTINO - driver N Williamson was spoken to regarding the manner he drove near the 1300 metres when permitting the colt to shift outwards momentarily inconveniencing DISMARA.

BETTOR BUY IT - broke at the start.
IT AIN'T THE MONEY - over-raced in the middle stages.
MAVERICK - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver N McGrath advised the gelding had benefited from a change to its training regime and also a drop back in class today.
 
Race 9RYDER PLUMBING & ROOFING MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
TIZIANO - Shifted inwards near the 950 metres to the parked position resulting in ALEXY racing in restricted room and breaking. Stewards questioned drivers H Hunter and D O'Connell regarding this incident and after doing so issued Mr Hunter with a charge of Careless Driving in that he shifted in when not fully clear of ALEXY on his inside, resulting in that runner breaking. Mr Hunter defended the breach however after viewing replays and hearing evidence from Mr Hunter, Mr O'Connell and the Stewards the JCA found the charge proved. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $350.
ALEXY - raced wide in the early stages. Broke near the 950 metres when racing to the inside of TIZIANO (H Hunter) which shifted inwards.
PAY MASTER - held up rounding the final bend and early stages of the home straight when trailing a weakening runner.
SWAP OVER - checked near the 950 metres and had to be shifted wider on the track to avoid a breaking runner. Hung inwards entering the home straight and had to be straightened.
HAPPY STYX - weakened near the 700 metres and was distanced over the final stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare driver D Dunn could only advise he was disappointed with the horse's efforts over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
ROCKING ROBYN - checked passing the 950 metres when there was an easing of the pace in the one out line. Held up rounding the final bend.
PAT'S LEGACY - inconvenienced for a short distance passing the 650 metres when trailing the weakening HAPPY STYX. Held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight.
JETENARA - checked near the 950 metres having to be steadied.

WAR HORSE - held up in the early stages of the home straight.
MAIDONTHEBEACH - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer H Hunter explained that he had not been overly disappointed with the mare's previous performances leading into today's race and she had taken natural benefit from them.
NO MORE CHANGE - raced wide in the early stages. Compounded from the 500 metres. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
TRIPLE VC - held up in the early stages of the home straight until being angled out passing the 150 metres to obtain clear running.
ROZZANO - obliged to race wide from the 700 metres.

THE NIGHT HAWK - raced roughly on the final bend and had to be steadied. Held up throughout the home straight.
TUHERBS TWO - hung inwards rounding the final bend striking several track markers.
RAKAROVER - raced wide in the early stages.
THE HIGH ACHIEVER - over-raced in the early stages.
BONTZ - over-raced in the early and middle stages.
KARMIC WAY - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate. Connections advised they would have blood tests conducted in the coming days. Trainer N McGrath was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing next.Trainer N McGrath was issued with a warning after failing to lodge a Horse Movement Notification covering the gelding.
NAVAJO ART - held up rounding the final bend then again over the final 100 metres, going to the line without being fully tested by its driver.
