XTRA TIME - broke approaching the first turn losing ground.
MONARO MIA - broke at the start settling towards the rear. Broke entering the first turn losing considerable ground. Inconvenienced 750 metres.
RARANGI OPAL - broke approaching the first turn but soon settled. Broke passing the 100 metres. A protest was lodged against this mare's fourth placing under Rule 870(3) on the grounds that it galloped in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres. The protest was not contested and the JCA disqualified RARANGI OPAL.
PEEP O DAY - removed from unruly for future stands.
COMMANDO ONE - broke near the 750 metres losing all chance.
SUNNY BILL - broke passing the 350 metres losing all chance.
ABOVE THE REST - inconvenienced near the 750 metres.
MON ARCHIE WAY - Driver M Burley admitted a charge under Rule 870(1) in that he failed to immediately take all reasonable steps to return the gelding to its proper gait after it switched to a pace near the 250 metres. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $600.00.

CLOVER KATE - broke entering the first turn losing several lengths. Unsuccessfully contested for lead between the 1000 and 850 metres.

LINCOLN SKY - raced without cover throughout. Tired final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities other than an increased respiratory rate.

BURNING REIGN - broke briefly entering the first turn. Tired final stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.
ITSOKBEINGBETTER - three wide early and middle stages. Held up final turn.
RANGI RANGDU - caught four wide early and middle stages.
WILLEDU - lay in badly on the turns when caught three wide early and middle stages before being restrained to the rear. Lay in over marker pegs entering final turn. A warning was placed against this gelding's racing manners.
KATE JACKSON - raced fiercely score up and early stages. Raced three wide until crossing to race outside the leader near the 800 metres.
