Race 4 - RORY McILWRICK JUNIOR DRIVER OF THE YEAR MOBILE PACE
At a hearing held today, Junior Horseman M Anderson admitted a breach of Rule 847(1) and the Safety Gear Regulations in that he had in his possession and checked out with a modified helmet. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.

Trainer J Harrington advised Stewards on 12 October that a scope performed on CULLENS BAD GIRL following its disappointing performance at Timaru on 8 October revealed an inflamed aesophagus with this being treated with a throatwash.

There was a delay to the start of this race when SOUTHERN ALPS required the attention of the farrier.
DIDJABRINGTHEBEERS - broke at the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
ED WOOD - broke briefly at the start.
MY EYRE - briefly hampered late in the run home.
ALI LINDENNY - hung outwards in the home straight and shifted out abruptly just short of the winning post. Driver C Thornley was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the home straight.
B D SON - raced wide in the early stages until being taken forwards to the lead near the 1600 metres. Broke near the 300 metres. Broke again late in the run home. Trainer/driver J Harrington reported the gelding had hung inwards throughout and it was his intention to make gear changes prior to resuming.
LADY TANYA - broke at the start. Checked and broke after 150 metres. Weakened near the 1000 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
GIRLZ N BOYZ - broke at the start. Weakened leaving the final bend.
ALPINE SUN - broke at the start.
SUNNY GLENIS - lay outwards late in the run home.

Stable representative J Dunn was questioned regarding his failure to present TUAPEKA TRICK and MAHKSMAN in the stabling area in accordance with the Programming Conditions Regulation. After considering his explanation a warning was placed on the record of Trainer R Dunn.
TUAPEKA TRICK - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the gelding's performance, driver J Dunn advised he had been challenged for the lead in the early stages and felt it had impacted on the horse's ability to finish the race off competitively. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities.
LIMOSO - gave ground on the bend near the 500 metres.
AWAYOVERNIGHT - hampered near the 300 metres after SCOOB OPERATOR shifted ground wider on the track.
MAHKSMAN - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1400 metres.
CAPITAL GIRL - steadied near the 1500 metres after an easing of the pace. Broke near the 900 metres losing ground. Trainer/driver K Cox advised in her opinion the mare had failed to handle the track conditions.
DOWNTOWN TRAIN - raced wide in the early stages until being taken forwards to race outside the leader near the 1600 metres.
ZION BROMAC - held up early stages of the run home. Lay outwards throughout the final straight.
SCOOB OPERATOR - driver R Anderson was warned to exercise care when shifting ground near the 300 metres.
KING ARTHUR - hampered near the 900 metres.
MOTU BETTOR BE QUICK - steadied near the 1500 metres after an easing of the pace. Hampered near the 900 metres.

MISS JUDGEFORD - weakened passing the 400 metres.
SHE'S A FLYIN - raced wide in the early stages before being taken forwards to the lead near the 1400 metres.
MIDFREW TARPEDIEM - over-raced in the middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the home straight.
RED RIVER LOCHEE - driver R Holmes was issued with a warning for half carting for a short distance near the 900 metres.
VENETO - hung outwards in the score up and was back slightly at the start.

LACHIE MCCOOL - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 9.35am. Trainer M Smolenski will be spoken to in the coming days.
YUKON CLOUD - over-raced middle stages. When spoken to regarding the improved performance, trainer/driver J Gray explained the mare had benefited from a complete change in training regime.
WAIKARI FIRE - driver R Holmes was spoken to advisedly for the manner he shifted ground near the 300 metres.
ASTRO ELETE - inconvenienced near the 350 metres.
I'M SICK OF EXCUSES - inconvenienced near the 350 metres.
COLLECTABLE LADY - broke in the early stages losing its chance.
MAKE US GRIN - broke at the start.
SANDRA KEITH - broke at the start. Inconvenienced near the 350 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Trainer/driver A Lowe reported he would return the mare to trials prior to resuming.
WESTY RANGER - when spoken to regarding the improved performance, trainer J Bartlett explained the mare had been unlucky in recent starts and had been able to secure an economical run after being removed from the unruly position since its last start.
JUST ONE GOOD ONE - the murphy blind was removed prior to the start. Inconvenienced near the 350 metres. Held up for clear racing room passing the 100 metres.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - inconvenienced near the 350 metres.
MEGA WATT - broke on the bend near the 350 metres inconveniencing trailing runners. Driver J Curtin reported the gelding had brushed a knee and it was his intention to add go-straights prior to resuming. Held up for clear racing room near the 50 metres.
FRANCO GARCIA - broke in the early stages losing ground. Inconvenienced near the 350 metres.

LAUGH AND CRY - broke at the start losing all chance.
PRINCESS HARBOUR - broke at the start losing all chance.
GLENIS MARIE - held up in the early stages of the run home. Shifted ground abruptly near the 250 metres. Driver R Anderson was shown a replay and warned to show greater awareness when trailing a breaking runner.
MEDUSA - broke entering the final straight near the 300 metres with the trailing GLENIS MARIE having to take evasive action. Driver G Smith advised he would be recommending gear changes on the mare.
AGATHA TYRON - Trainer P O'Reilly advised that the mare was racing in season.
MISSANDEI - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
HABIBTI IVY - contacted by GLENIS MARIE near the 300 metres and became unbalanced.

OK I'M BAD - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. Broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Trainer D Ottley advised the gelding will be sent for a spell.
CLARENDON'S LAST - driver S Ottley reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
SHE'SA TRICKY BRIDGE - checked at the start unbalancing driver J Curtin for a short distance.
RAINY RIVER - checked at the start.
VYNDETTA - checked and broke at the start. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Driver G Smith advised he did not activate the removable gear.
NORMAN RICHARDS - shifted inwards abruptly at the start checking inside runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.

VINNY GAMBINI - hung outwards when being restrained to surrender the lead near the 1900 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver M Anderson reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have handled the grass track.
JUNKYARD MASE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly.
SCARLETT BANNER - out of position at the candy pole and at the start. Driver L Lester was issued with a warning. Held up on the final bend.
WOBBEGONG - held up final bend.
STOP MEANS STOP - held up final bend.
SPORTSCASTER - over-raced and then broke in the early stages losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding.
RANFURLY RULZ - held up final bend.
GUNPOWDER - raced wide from the 1600 metres and was unable to muster sufficient speed to reach the parked position resulting in the gelding having to race three wide without cover. Weakened on the final bend and was shifted wider to minimise interference to trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities.
KARDESLER - held up final bend. Lay inwards passing the 200 metres when being shifted wider on the track and had to be steadied.

IMOLA - driver G Smith was warned under Rule 858(b) for being late to arrive at the start area prior to the race. Broke at the start. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from a standing start.
BITE THE BULLET - broke at the start. Held up on the final bend.
JOHNNY EYRE - broke at the start.
HIDDEN DESIRE - weakened final bend.
JAMES DEAN - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
MAVERICK - hampered by the breaking JAMES DEAN in the early stages.
BUSTER BRADY - hampered by the breaking JAMES DEAN in the early stages.
TITAN BANNER - driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the sliding blinds.

JEAN SEBASTIEN - began awkwardly.
QUEST STAR - weakened passing the 1100 metres and compounded over the final stages to finish a distant last placing. Driver G O'Reilly reported the gelding had made a respiratory noise throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a possible displacement of the soft palate. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
WHATABOYZ - held up until late in the run home.
ONE OVER DOVER - raced wide early stages. Trotted roughly throughout the run home and was unable to be fully tested.
RUSTY I AM - hung inwards final bend and struck pylons.
JERRY GARCIA - raced wide for a considerable distance through the early and middle stages. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 2300 metres when JERRY GARCIA was obliged to race wider on the track after JEAN SEBASTIEN had shifted ground outwards. After viewing the replays it was established that JEAN SEBASTIEN had been shifted wider prior to JERRY GARCIA reaching its sulky wheel. No further action was required.
REDWOOD INVASION - held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight.
MAJESTIC MOMENT - raced wide early stages.
FEATHER BOYZ - weakened near the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse may have choked down. The connections advised they would make gear changes to the gelding prior to resuming.
RED HOT POKER - broke near the 2400 metres. Weakened leaving the final bend.
VALMAGNE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Raced four wide from the 700 metres. Weakened final bend.

LATE MAIL - broke at the start. Paced roughly in the home straight.
QUITE IDEAL - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
RED MOON RISING - broke at the start. The all clear was delayed until trainer/driver G Smith had viewed the film of the start and was satisfied that his runner had not been denied a fair start. Mr Smith advised he would have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards of the results.
THE GOVERNOR - broke at the start. Weakened leaving the final bend. The all clear was delayed until driver D Dunn had viewed the film of the start and was satisfied that his runner had not been denied a fair start. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding in the coming days with trainer T Bagrie.
JOEY MAGUIRE - broke briefly after 100 metres.
BANK RAIDER - broke at the start. The gelding will now be drawn unruly for standing starts.
MY WEE MAN - raced wide early stages.
