Race 4 - NRM SIRES STAKES 3YO (HEAT 1) MOBILE PACE
Trainer R Dunn advised Stewards on 11 October that blood tests taken from ALTA MAESTRO following its run at Cambridge last week revealed a virus which has since been treated. Mr Dunn added that the colt will resume its campaign from the stable's Canterbury base.

LUCY'S ARIEL - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Weakened near the 400 metres. Junior Driver N. Delany advised that the mare was brushing its knees. The connections advised that they would be making appropriate gear adjustments.
SPIRIT OF LOVE - Trainer M. Collins was questioned regarding his failure to present his mare in the stabling area in accordance with the Programming Conditions Regulation. After considering his explanation Mr Collins was issued with a warning.
RAINBOW WIRI - broke at the start settling at the back of the field in consequence. Held up on the final bend and over the early stages of the run home. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.

WHITEHAVEN BEACH - raced wide from the 900 metres.
FRONT PAGE - eased wider on the track approaching the 900 metres and forced to race wide thereafter.
EYESDOWN AND LOOKING - held up in the early stages of the run home.
MADAM SECRETARY - held up rounding the final bend and over the early stages of the run home.

HE'S LIKE THE WIND - the near side rein burr was removed from this gelding prior to the start. Inclined to lay in throughout the running. Held up on the final bend and then hampered by a galloping runner.
SIR HENRY CASTLETON - broke racing into the first turn losing considerable ground. Again broke near the 1500 metres.
PUMA ROAD - raced wide from the 1200 metres.
LOVEONTHELAWN - trotted roughly under pressure on the final bend and then broke near the 300 metres. This runner was shifted inside the marker line to minimise the impact on trailing runners. When spoken to regarding the mare's performance Trainer/Driver D. Balle explained the mare had been unsuited to working in the early stages to take up a prominent position and again in the middle stages to maintain its forward position. Mr Balle further added that it was his intention to have blood tests taken in the coming days and he undertook to notify Stewards if anything becomes apparent that would help to explain the disappointing run.
SPEEDY LAVROS - trotted roughly near the 1200 metres and as a result was unable to maintain its position in the field.
TEHORO HAZEL - Driver K. Marshall was reminded of his obligation in regard to the unruly position at the start.
IZINTHEZONE - broke for a short distance after the start losing ground.
GINTARAS - broke on the bend near the 300 metres.
ANGUS BURGA - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Authorisation of 5th placing was withheld until it was confirmed that the gelding had not broken in excess of 150 metres at the start.

Stipendiary Stewards abandoned the race in accordance with Rule 211A following an incident approaching the 1400 metres which resulted in two horses falling and five drivers being dislodged from their sulkies. The two horses concerned were LYNBAR ROSE and ACCUMULATOR. Junior Drivers N. Delany (SMACKWATER JACK), C. Smith (LYNBAR ROSE), J. Wallace (ACCUMULATOR), T. Cameron (ITALIAN DELIGHT) and J. MacKinnon (ARDENT LUSTRE) were all checked by paramedic staff and cleared to take the remainder of their engagements at the meeting. An investigation was held into this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing the relative evidence blame could not be solely attributed to any individual driver, however, both D. Ferguson (ATOM HANOVER) and C. Smith (LYNBAR ROSE) were spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which they drove.
SMACKWATER JACK - badly interfered with by a fallen runner dislodging Junior Driver N. Delany approaching the 1400 metres.
LYNBAR ROSE - contacted the sulky of KAITLYN passing the 1400 metres, galloped and then fell dislodging Junior Driver C. Smith. This mare was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and found to have sustained abrasions to its head and its right shoulder.
ACCUMULATOR - badly interfered with by a fallen runner passing the 1400 metres, falling and dislodging Junior Driver J. Wallace. This gelding was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and found to have suffered mild lacerations to both hind legs.
ITALIAN DELIGHT - badly interfered with by a fallen runner dislodging Junior Driver T. Cameron approaching the 1400 metres. This gelding was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and was found to have sustained lacerations to its right hind leg.
SUZIE PEE JAY - back from position at dispatch. Checked badly taking evasive action approaching the 1400 metres. Junior Driver F. Schumacher was warned to have his mare in position in the future.
ARDENT LUSTRE - badly interfered with by a fallen runner dislodging Junior Driver J. MacKinnon approaching the 1400 metres.
AMERICAN EMPRESS - badly impeded by fallen runners losing considerable ground.
ATOM HANOVER - cleared from the unruly for future mobiles.
 
Race 5CLEVEDON COAST OYSTERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
FRANCO HAMILTON - tired over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
ALTA SHANGRI LA - Driver A Poutama was spoken to for the manner in which he shifted inwards near the 1700 metres causing some inconvenience to NEW YORK RAIN.
NEW YORK RAIN - broke briefly in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. Broke again approaching the 1700 metres when being shifted down to the marker pegs by ALTA SHANGRI LA but soon settled. Paced roughly passing the 1600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance Co-Trainer/Driver J. Dickie advised that the filly had paced unevenly throughout the event and the connections were disappointed with the performance.
 
Race 6RAJ ORZZZZ RACE MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
R GEE BEE - raced roughly for several strides entering the final straight having to be steadied by Driver J. Abernethy. This entire was held up in the early stages of the run home.
ONEDIN AMETHYST - raced roughly on the bend near the 400 metres having to be steadied.
BUBBLES O'LEARY - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
MY CASH - back from the unruly position at the start. Broke passing the 250 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record. The connections advised they would be making gear changes after the mare had struck a knee and that they would consider returning the horse to the trials.

GEORGE - broke passing the 350 metres.
MADAM SPUR - broke passing the 2400 metres losing ground. Broke again near the 1400 metres.
ROYAL WILLIE - stood on the mark at the start causing interference to trailing runners, and as a result Driver S. Phelan was dislodged from the sulky. Driver S. Phelan was checked by paramedics and cleared to take his remaining drives. A warning was placed on the entire's barrier record.
SHADY SADIE - Trainer J. Stormont was charged a $25.00 colour fee. Dislodged a track marker passing the 250 metres.
CHARLEMAGNE - checked shortly after the start by a runner that failed to begin and as a result lost considerable ground.
KD HALL - hung in and broke passing the 350 metres.
GENTLEMAN SIR - broke at the start losing all chance.
REALMEIN - broke approaching the first bend losing considerable ground.
LEMOND - badly checked shortly after the start losing all chance.
DJOKOVIC - broke passing the 300 metres.
 
Race 8KERRY HOGGARD MEMORIAL - THE HOLMES DG HANDICAP PACEVideo  Video 
THEFIXER - Trainers N. Rasmussen and M. Purdon were charged a colour fee of $25.00. Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained passing the 2200 metres.
CASH N FLOW - broke at the start losing considerable ground.

DREAM TO REALITY - gave ground over the final stages.
MY GENERATION - momentarily placed in restricted room racing into the first bend. Had difficulty finding clear racing room over the final stages.
IDEAL ROMAN - momentarily lay in tightening a runner to its inside when improving to the lead racing into the first bend. Lay out under pressure in the run home. When spoken to regarding the performance of his runner driver D Butcher explained that his gelding had to work hard in the early stages which, through being fresh up tonight, had taken its toll over the final stages. Mr Butcher added he expected the gelding would derive considerable benefit from the run.
MAHEER MISTER - gave ground over the final stages.
OPOUTAMA - Trainer B. Purdon was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100.00 for presenting this mare to race with the incorrect saddle cloth. Driver B. Mangos was shown the replay and instructed to change the manner in which he used his whip over the final stages. In considering this matter Stewards took into account Mr Mangos' explanation that he was flicking the mare's tail over the final stages.
 
Race 10AIR VANUATU HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
STOW - checked and broke with 40 metres remaining. Continued to gallop until reaching the finishing line. Stewards took no action against this runner's placing when lapped on due to the interference suffered.
SUNNY PEGASUS - shifted inwards near the 50 metres and made contact with a leg of STOW, which broke. Mr Brosnan and Mr D Ferguson (STOW) were questioned regarding this incident and after considering their explanations Stewards issued Mr Brosnan with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he was careless when shifting inwards when not sufficiently clear of inside runners. Mr Brosnan defended the charge however the JCA found the breach proven and imposed a suspension of his driver's licence up to and including 17th November 2017.
SECRETOFTHESEA SMILE - broke at the start losing its chance.
TE KOUKA SUCCESS - broke leaving the final bend near the 250 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
GALLEONS VICTORY - checked leaving the final bend becoming held up for a considerable time in consequence.
MAJESTIC STRIDE - checked and broke on the final bend losing its chance.
TE KOUKA BREEZE - over-raced throughout. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home and in consequence was unable to be fully tested in the middle stages of the run home.
