Trainer P Nairn has reported to Stewards that THE FOOT TAPPER (Race 9) has had his hind fetlock joints injected since last racing.

T Williams provided to Stewards a medical clearance on the 2nd of October 2017.

Race 7 - VERO HANDICAP PACE
Trainer K Ford advised Stewards on 1 October that DONEGAL CARRICKFIN has recovered well subsequent to its disappointing run at Addington on 29 September. Mr Ford added that it was intention to take the gelding to trials and make some gear changes before resumption.

Stable representative A Tomlinson advised Stewards on 4 October that following the disappointing performance of AMARETTO SUN in the Banks Peninsula Trotting Cup on Sunday, soreness was detected in a fetlock with this being injected. AMARETTO SUN will now continue with its current preparation.

IDLE MOOSE - held up throughout the run home. Driver B Orange reported he had not activated the gelding's deafeners.
MON RICHIE - hampered for a short distance near the 50 metres.
MEDUSA - trotted roughly near the 2100 metres.
BREENYS CULLEN - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Removed from the unruly for future standing starts.
MAJESTIC MOMENT - broke over the concluding stages.
THE DOMINATOR - lay inwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

STILL EYRE - broke after 150 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
SAY YOUR PRES - broke near the 2100 metres. Broke again with 380 metres to run. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
EDEN CREEK - trotted roughly at the 650 metres and broke with 350 metres to run.
BK DAWN - driver P Wakelin admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she had used her whip excessively inside the final 400 metres and the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
JERRY GARCIA - slow in the early stages then paced for several strides after 150 metres and lost ground.

GLENGARRY ROSE - broke interfering with ENCHANTEE in the score up causing a false start to be declared. Driver G O'Reilly elected to remain in his barrier position for the re-start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
DEBNITA ROSE - hung inwards in the run home. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the mare's deafeners.
ENCHANTEE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
MISS ETHEL SUNSHINE - late scratching at 3.10pm due to being sold.
SANS LE SOU - driver R Alfeld reported that due to the cord becoming entangled he had not been able to activate his mare's deafeners.

HARRIET OF MOT - broke after 200 metres. Broke again with 350 metres to run.
POPPYMALDA - pre-race warmed. Held up throughout the final straight.
PRINCE FEARLESS - when spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, driver and co-trainer M Purdon was unable to offer any explanation other than to say he had been disappointed with the efforts of his gelding.
GEE UP NEDDY - weakened on the final bend.
BELLES SON - broke with 1050 metres to run.
WILMA'S MATE - slow away then paced for several strides losing ground.

FUNATTHEBEACH - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 7.50pm. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the colt resuming.
HAIL CHRISTIAN - driver J Curtin reported that due to his cord becoming entangled he was not able to activate his colt's deafeners.
SHERIFF - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up between the 100 metres and the 50 metres striking several pylons in consequence. Driver G Smith advised that he wished to review the films of the run home however after doing so it was apparent there was not sufficient room for his runner to improve into on the inside of THE DEVILS OWN.
CHASE AUCKLAND - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 9.30am. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding resuming.
TUAPEKA TRICK - had to be restrained near the 900 metres when becoming awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of PAT'S DELIGHT.
 
Race 7INKWISE CANTERBURY CLASSIC (STANDING START)Video  Video 
DREAM ABOUT ME - hampered in the early stages of the run home.
SEEL THE DEAL - began awkwardly.
LAZARUS - over-raced when being restrained to surrender the lead near the 1400 metres.
HEAVEN ROCKS - paced indifferently at various times through the middle stages. Paced roughly and shifted ground outwards near the 250 metres and was uneven in its action to the line. When questioned regarding the gelding's run, driver and co-trainer N Rasmussen could only advise that she thought the horse had gone amiss over the final stages after pacing indifferently throughout. A post-race veterinary examination showed the horse to be lame in the near front leg. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to HEAVEN ROCKS resuming. Ms Rasmussen advised Stewards further veterinary examinations would take place in the coming days and she undertook to advise Stewards of anything which may come to light as a result.
 
Race 8CAVELL LEITCH HANDICAP PACEVideo  Video 
MICHELANGELO - hampered at the start.
JOHNNY EYRE - shifted inwards at the start in a break losing ground.
BILLY BADGER - hampered at the start.
MICKY GEE - broke at the start. When questioned regarding the performance, driver S Ottley explained the gelding had travelled lethargically throughout and she was disappointed with its efforts. A post-race veterinary examination showed sore back muscles with a clearance required prior to resuming. Trainer D Gaffaney advised it was his intention to have blood tests taken. Stewards will follow up the results of these tests with Mr Gaffaney in the coming days.
IMOLA - held up on the final bend.

LAVROS JACK - broke at the start losing all chance.
DONEGAL BETTORGRETCH - broke after 50 metres losing all chance. This mare will now be drawn unruly for standing starts.
LOTHARIO - weakened on the bend near the 400 metres. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, driver B Butt advised he had been disappointed with its efforts over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination showed sacral pain and some foot soreness with a clearance required prior to the gelding resuming.
JEN JACCKA - raced wide in the early stages.

SHILLELAGH - checked at the 750 metres.
ALTA SHELBY - over-raced when held up on the final bend.
ARTICULIGHT - checked at the 750 metres.
AFTERDINNERSPEAKER - over-raced near the 800 metres and contacted the back of the sulky of GENTLE GIANT when that runner was being restrained causing the gelding to gallop and lose its chance.
BLACK ART - raced wide in the early stages.
LATE MAIL - checked at the 750 metres.
SPORTSCASTER - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up early stages of the run home having to be shifted wider to obtain clear running.
