LINC'S GRACE - paced roughly rounding the first bend. Hung outwards leaving the final bend and was not persevered with when under pressure over the final stages. Driver Z. Butcher advised that LINC'S GRACE had over-raced and was green throughout the running and was of the opinion the filly may be better suited to be driven with a sit. Trainer R. Green advised it was his intention to spell the filly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.

ATOM HANOVER - Junior Driver M. Johnson, assisted by Senior Driver B. Mangos, was questioned regarding the manner in which he had driven approaching the 1100 metres. It was established that after having raced three wide for the first 1100 metres ATOM HANOVER had been improving forward to cross to the lead in front of FLOATING ON EYRE but the gelding had then raced ungenerously losing momentum, despite the efforts of Mr Johnson, which resulted in the tightening received by FLOATING ON EYRE. After considering the matter Mr Johnson was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he had driven and warned to ensure that he gives inside runners more room in similar circumstances in the future.

Race 7DAWSON HARFORD & PARTNERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
AMERICAN BRAVE - paced roughly entering the first bend. Over-raced down the back straight the first time when challenged for the lead.
MY GENERATION - held up rounding the final bend.
MINSTREL BOY - challenged for the lead over the early stages before being restrained to look to take a trail. Improved forward near the 1800 metres to unsuccessfully challenge for the lead before again taking a trailing position. Driver S. Abernethy was questioned regarding his driving tactics and in particular his decision to challenge for the lead for some distance racing down the back the first time and also his failure to attempt to utilise the passing lane earlier in the run home before finishing on late into a close up 6th placing. Mr Abernethy stated that MINSTREL BOY was one paced and had performed best when able to lead or race outside the leader and for that reason he elected to go forward early to look for the lead, however, AMERICAN BRAVE had been able to muster sufficient speed to hold the lead so he elected to look to take a trail on that runner. He further stated that Driver B. Butcher (AMERICAN BRAVE) had then eased the tempo so he felt it was his best option to go forward and look for the lead, however AMERICAN BRAVE then commenced to over-race badly. Mr Abernethy further explained that after challenging down the back straight he had then again restrained to take a trail approaching the 1450 metres but was then placed at some disadvantage when the tempo eased appreciably through the second quarter of the last mile. In relation to his failure to take the passing lane earlier in the home straight, Mr Abernethy explained that he had been driving his gelding along prior to shifting down into the passing lane approaching the 50 metres but conceded that he had not been aware that the run had been available earlier as he felt that AMERICAN BRAVE had shifted down into that position. After considering the matter, Mr Abernethy's explanation in relation to his tactics over the early and middle stages was noted, however he was cautioned for his failure to attempt to take the passing lane earlier when it had become available.
CHAL SHOCKED - no claims lodged.
