Race 3 - THE PARK EVENT & FUNCTION CENTRE MOBILE PACE
1). Trainer E Latimer advised Stewards on 11 September that x-rays taken from THE PERSUADER following its race at Forbury Park on 3 September have revealed no fracture with the gelding now continuing on its current campaign.

2). Stewards have given further consideration to the explanation tendered by trainer Mr G Anderson and driver Mr D Dunn in regard to the handling of MILLWOOD DAISY in the above mentioned race. Of concern to Stewards was Mr Dunn's decision not to improve the mare through the middle stages to take up a more forwards position to which Mr Dunn explained that he had been instructed to drive the mare for one run for the reason Mr Anderson explains below.

Mr Anderson's explanation that this was the mare's first start for him, and that he normally would not issue instructions to Mr Dunn. However, on this occasion he had instructed Mr Dunn to drive MILLWOOD DAISY for one run due to the mare not impressing him at its lead up trial when asked to work off the mobile after which it tired over the concluding stages. Mr Anderson added that the mare had failed to finish off her races in a competitive fashion when asked to work through the middle stages. Stewards also took into consideration the intention of Mr Anderson to instruct that the mare would be driven with the same tactics in future. After taking into account the explanation of both Mr Dunn and Mr Anderson, the betting activity around MILLWOOD DAISY, the video evidence of the mare's previous starts and that the mare had been driven in the same fashion at its subsequent start which resulted in a winning performance, Stewards deemed Mr Dunn's drive as not unreasonable in the circumstances and will take the matter no further.

Stewards questioned Amateur driver R Reekie (who declined assistance by a Senior Reinsperson) regarding the tactics he employed through the middle stages of this event. Of particular concern to Stewards was his decision to maintain his challenge for the lead for such an extended period after his initial challenge had been unsuccessful. After hearing the explanation tendered by Mr Reekie Stewards issued him a charge under Rule 869(3)(g) in that he drove in a manner capable of diminishing ZAKSPATROL's chance of winning the race. Mr Reekie defended the charge and after hearing evidence from the Stewards and Mr Reekie the JCA found the charge proven and subsequently suspended Mr Reekie's Amateur Horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 15th March 2020 (2 1/2 years).
