I'M SICK OF EXCUSES - paced roughly through the early stages and was inclined to lay inwards. Weakened near the 600 metres. Driver R Curtin was shown the films and warned for the manner in which he drove in the opening stages when shifting down the track and restricting the racing room available to FLYINGMASTERWILLIAMS. Mr Curtin was also cautioned with regards to utilising his whip on a runner when out of contention.
SCHNAPPS - hung outwards through the early stages.
LINK TO COLLECT - paced roughly passing the candy pole and was out of position by a length at dispatch. Driver D Dunn advised his gelding had struck the right side sulky wheel with it's hind leg for a short distance.

Race 3THE PARK EVENT & FUNCTION CENTRE MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
SHARDS HALO - raced wide in the early stages until being taken forward to lead near the 1600 metres.
ALEXY - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
MILLWOOD DAISY - over-raced in the middle stages. Stewards questioned Driver D Dunn regarding his decision not to improve his mare through the middle stages to take up a more forward position. Mr Dunn advised his instructions were to drive the mare for one run after it had failed to impress trainer G Anderson at it's most recent trial when asked to lead off the gate. When questioned, Trainer G Anderson advised that the mare was having it's first start for him and that it had previously not finished it's races off in a competitive fashion when asked to do work during the running. He added that in it's lead up trial it had led and had disappointed him by tiring over the concluding stages. Mr Anderson confirmed that his instructions to Mr Dunn were to drive the mare for one run due to this and the fact that it had drawn an outside barrier. Mr Anderson further advised that it would be his intention to instruct his drivers to drive the mare the same way should it draw an outside barrier if circumstances permitted in future. After considering the comments of Messrs Dunn and Anderson Stewards adjourned the matter to give it further consideration.
THE PERSUADER - raced keenly when being restrained in the early stages. Appeared to jump a mark on the track exiting the final bend and broke. Returned to the stable enclosure lame and underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed a suspected fractured pedal bone with the gelding stood down pending a veterinary clearance.

KAKA POINT CHRIS - out of position at dispatch. Driver A Milne was cautioned to ensure he is in position on the mobile in future. Unable to gain clear racing room throughout the home straight.
BETTY BOO - improved outwards from the trailing position passing the 300 metres. Was held up on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home. When questioned in regards to his decision to improve outwards as opposed to waiting for the passing lane, Driver D Dunn advised that in his opinion the leader, MILLWOOD CHARITY ,was under pressure and it would be more beneficial to improve outwards onto the back of IDEAL DENARIO which he felt was travelling better at the time. Mr Dunn added that given the way the mare had finished the race, in his opinion, improving outwards had not affected the finishing position of the mare. After viewing the films and taking into account the comments tendered by Mr Dunn, Stewards accepted the explanation as being reasonable and took the matter no further.
JEMIMA FRANCO - hampered in the early stages. Driver M Williamson was spoken to in regards to the manner in which he shifted ground outwards near the 300 metres.

When questioned in regards to the decision to improve outwards at this stage of the race, Driver J Cox advised it was his belief that the leader was not travelling as well as the parked horse and he felt that it was in his horses best interest to follow that runner instead. Mr Cox further advised that as soon as he had improved outwards the mare become lethargic and proved disappointing thereafter. The mare underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed nothing to which would explain the performance. Stewards will follow the recovery up with trainer A Hoffman in the coming days.
