Trainer J Parsons has informed Stewards that BOOMER recovered quickly following its performance at Addington last week and has worked well in preparation for its Rangiora engagement this weekend.

Trainer N Williamson has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance at Oamaru on Sunday, TAKENOPRISONERS has had a few days off and appears to have recovered well. Mr Williamson added that in his opinion the gelding didn't back up from the previous week adding that it will be going back to trials and/or workouts before resuming.

Race 1BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TAB's & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
MARKIM - held up rounding the final bend. Broke with 100 metres remaining after making contact with the sulky of LLOYDIN MAGIC. Driver J Anderson (assisted by Senior Horseman R Holmes) was issued with and admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he was careless at this time. After submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Anderson's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 29 September 2017 (3 days) and in addition imposed a fine of $200.
AS KIWI AS - raced wide through the early and middle stages. Stewards questioned drivers R Sissons (AS KIWI AS), S Murtha (SMOOTH MARA) and T Woodward (GOT A BEAUTY) regarding the breaking of SMOOTH MARA near the first bend and after considering their evidence, issued a charge against Mr Sissons under Rule 869(3)(b) which alleged he drove carelessly when allowing his horse to shift down the track crowding the racing room available to SMOOTH MARA which broke in consequence. Mr Sissons admitted the breach and after submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $400.
ZAKSPATROL - raced wide through the early and middle stages. Held up throughout the final straight.
LIVING LEGEND - unable to gain clear racing room throughout the final straight with driver M Stratford advising he had not activated his gear in consequence.
GOT A BEAUTY - crowded in the early stages.
SMOOTH MARA - placed in restricted room racing into the first bend and broke losing its chance.
DEN'S LEGACY - raced wide from the 1300 metres.

HOT N FAST - lay inwards throughout the final straight.
FAMILY NIGHT - trotted roughly under pressure in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination showed the mare to have a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
THANK U GEORGE - checked near the 500 metres. Driver P Wakelin issued with a warning for using her whip outside the confines of the sulky in the run home.
SPUROFTHEMOMENT - broke nearing the 500 metres.
TOPNOTCH TITAN - broke shortly after the start. Held up throughout the run home.

RANFURLY RULZ - out of position at the start. Junior driver B Hope was shown the film and cautioned to maintain his barrier position until dispatch in future. Raced roughly in the early stages.
BLACK REGAL PRINCESS - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.

GLENGARRY ROSE - had to be steadied near the 600 metres when unsuccessfully attempting to shift to a wider position with the mare being held up on the final bend in consequence.
DYNAMO - paced roughly over a prolonged distance and then broke losing ground nearing the 1200 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record. The connections advised the gelding had cross-fired during the running and would be sent for a spell.
GWENDOLINE RUBY - raced wide early.
MISS PATRIOT - held up on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
BELLA VELOCE - when spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, driver and co-trainer T Chmiel reported BELLA VELOCE had disappointed and would be sent for a spell.
 
Race 5MONBET TROTTER OF THE YEAR HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
ROCKNPOP - broke nearing the 1300 metres.
AGATHA TYRON - lay inwards throughout the final straight.
CUDDLY JESS - began awkwardly.
SAM GALLEON - held up middle stages of the run home.
ZACHARY BINX - raced roughly on the bend near the 2200 metres. Over-raced middle stages.

DENSTOWN - broke at the start.
OVERARM - over-raced in the middle stages and had to be steadied near the 1300 metres when there was an easing of the pace.
SUPREME BANNER - raced wide through the early and middle stages. Driver M Anderson was questioned regarding the shorteners not being activated on his gelding. Mr Anderson advised that he was mindful of his runner breaking on two occasions at its most recent start and when the horse raced roughly on occasions during the running felt it in his best interests to leave the shorteners in place.
THE RED BARON - raced wide from the 800 metres.
CLASSIE REGAL - lay inwards on the final bend. Unable to obtain clear racing room throughout the final straight. Driver S Ottley reported the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence.
BOOMER - steadied near the 1300 metres when awkwardly positioned close to VYNDETTA which caused an easing of the pace.
CORENA LEA - hampered in the early stages. Raced greenly and hung outwards near the 1200 metres.
WAIKARI FIRE - inconvenienced at the start.
LILLY FRANCO - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.

ARTICULIGHT - got its head up and over-raced near the 1400 metres.
VERDUN - over-raced in the middle stages.

LUNDQVIST - broke near the 250 metres.
ANNA KATE - raced roughly in the early stages. Broke for a short distance on the first bend. Again broke near the 2100 metres losing considerable ground.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - broke at the start.
BK DAWN - broke racing towards the 2400 metres.
HEAVENLY LOVE - began awkwardly.
SHPEEDY - broke briefly near the 2500 metres losing ground. Again broke near the 1800 metres losing further ground.
RUSTY I AM - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home with driver P Wakelin advising the removable deafeners had not been activated.
 
Race 9PHIL & GLENYS KENNARD OWNERS OF THE YEAR MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY - paced roughly leaving the final bend. Broke for a short distance over the final stages and was restrained by driver G O'Reilly. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had lost ground and not broken in excess of 50 metres.
ENGLISH ROSE - lay inwards on the final bend causing driver C DeFilippi some difficulty when bringing the mare wider. Continued to lay inwards in the home straight. When questioned regarding the mare's improved performance, the connections advised she had derived considerable benefit from the addition of hopple shorteners which had allowed her to race in a more tractable manner.
EARTHQUAKE - over-raced when being restrained in the early stages.
NIC MAC WILLY - broke in the score up however was able to be in position at dispatch. Raced keenly through the early and middle stages.
