Mr Jones in the presence of Senior Horseman B Orange admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(c) in that he used his whip outside the confines of the sulky in the home straight when striking a wheel disc on several occasions. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $150. | |

LEADING THE WAY - held up for clear racing room final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards questioned Junior driver J Morrison in the presence of Senior Horseman R May regarding the tactics he adopted on the final bend when electing not to improve his position outwards resulting in him being held up for clear racing room until the 100 metres. After considering his explanation, Mr Morrison was issued a charge under Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his horse was given full opportunity to obtain the best possible finishing place. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA reserved their decision. | |

After viewing replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver M Purvis, the JCA dismissed the protest. | |
