Stewards questioned Driver M Williamson regarding the manner he drove entering the home straight when allowing his horse to shift into the passing lane. Mr Williamson advised that he heard Mr Hurrell (CRAIGSYDE) yelling behind him and believing he was in trouble, Mr Williamson eased his horse down into the passing lane. After viewing the films, it was clear CRAIGSYDE was racing fiercely with its head up when awkwardly placed close to the sulky of DARIN and that Mr Williamson's actions were in the best interests of safety, accordingly no further action was deemed necessary other than to place a warning on the racing manners of CRAIGSYDE.

Following the race Driver N Williamson viewed the films of the start before deciding to take no further action. Following the race Stewards viewed the films and spoke with several Drivers regarding DURRANT and DREAMS ARE FREE locking wheels racing into the first bend which resulted in DREAMS ARE FREE breaking and losing considerable ground. It was established that the incident was the result of general tightening with horses taking their positions early in the race and as such Stewards were unable to apportion blame to anyone Driver or horse, accordingly no further action was taken.
