When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner Trainer R Wilson advised the wide draw and the extra work to get to the lead had taken its toll, adding the gelding would derive considerable benefit from today's run.

A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right front leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

MATAI HARRY - when spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer/driver A Milne advised that the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today's race and had received an economical trip so was not surprised with the result.

NYLA - raced wide early. When spoken to regarding the improved performance connections advised that the mare had benefitted from a change of gear after last weeks indiscretion and today was a drop in class from recent racing.

NYLA - jumped a shadow on the track and broke passing the 2100m, losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Lay in final bend striking track markers.

TIMBIMBOO - raced wide early. Raced three wide before pacing roughly and breaking near the 1100m, hampering trailing runners and being retired from the race. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.

TIMBIMBOO - the required veterinary clearance was received. Raced wide early. Paced roughly rounding the final bend and in the run home. Driver M Hurrell reported that the gelding had paced roughly throughout and he did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.

TIMBIMBOO - the removable deafeners were removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Placed in restricted room near the 1700m when WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE shifted ground inwards. Over-raced through the middle stages. Paced roughly losing ground before weakening final bend. Junior driver M Hill advised the gelding had become stirred up by the false start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed TIMBIMBOO to be sore behind the wither region. Connections were advised the gelding was stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to racing or trialing next.

Raced greenly when in the lead leaving the first bend only settling when receiving cover in the trail. Held up final bend and the early stages of the run home. LA MOTH - driver A Milne defended a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip & Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Milne, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Mr Milne's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 5 November 2023 (3 days).
